Verizon to display the Motorola Droid Bionic on July 29 and selling it on August 4
Up until now, there has been little solid info regarding the release date, though there was some rumors and an earlier screen-shot pointing to August 4th. Now it appears that Verizon stores have received official notification informing them that they will receive the Droid Bionic later this month and to have it on public display starting July 29th, and will most likely be placed here. The email also points to August 4th as the release date. It does not give a price, though most believe it will be around $299 with contract.
Hopefully this will all happen, and the Droid Bionic will hit on August 4th, as the it will be the first dual-core smartphone to run on Verizon's 4G LTE network.

Sorry but with the news of the SGS2 coming out, I really could care less about this phone. Even if the Function doesnt have LTE, I could care less. I don't have and won't have LTE in over a year anyway and I'd rather spend less and have better battery life with a thinner design. Besides LTE seems to make phones really buggy. Maybe the Bionic will make a change in that but I know the SGS2 will be able to run circles around this phone anyway.

true to that and also I bet the SGS2 won't be $299 with contract. Actually is there even any other phone with other carriers that come with such a high price?

Im just glad android finally has a lag free superphone. Let's like the specs keep getting better, more features being added, screen resolutions and sizes getting bigger but yet the lag has always remained. Finally that is about to change. The phrase iphone killer is dead. Now everyone will want to be an sgs2 killer.

I definitely agree with you about the sgs2 being the best phone right now. But i believe the Bionic will be on the same level as it because of that DDR2 ram. I can't wait to see the official specs on friday. Because if it doesn't live up to it's hype, i'll be getting the first samsung phone I've ever had.

*And with TouchWiz, you'll be sorry you did.

If the SGS2 is 4G then I would say yeah but if its only 3G on Verizon's network when it comes out then I'd say what a waste of a good phone. 4G is where it is at...Period!

The only gripe i have with Samsung is the fact that their software updates are horrible (ie it took forever to get Froyo!) So I'm considering jumping the sammy ship to HTC or Motorola. At least their updates are timely!

I was really interested in the phone at one point, but I think I'll wait a while. I have a suspicion that the battery life will be terrible and that it will use the same mediocre screen from this years Droid devices.
I'll be holding on a little longer to see how the U.S. SGSII turns out, as well as what happens with iPhone 5 and new Mango devices (I hear theres an SGSII Mango clone in the works?). As much as I love Android I feel it may be time for me try a different OS, unless the SGSII or outstanding Bionic reviews can convince me to stay.

i just got my Droid 3 today and i don't mind the pentile matrix that much. it at least saves battery life and the blacks look a little better than the Droid 2 i came from.

loving my Droid3. not a big fan of qwerty keyboard phones but this one is a true upgrade from the Droid2. especially love the version of blur they put on it.
16. Thump3rDX17 (Posts: 2160; Member since: 10 May 2010)
yeah, i was actually kind of torn between keeping it stock or putting GO Launcher EX on but in the end i decided i'd keep it stock for a while.

The first Motorola DROID phone was awesome. IPS panel, Gorilla glass, unlocked bootloader... I know most people don't like Motoblur, but that is easily changed.

I tried WP7 to check it out. Coming from android, WP7 was a complete disapointment. WP7 felt like it was designed for 1st time smartphone buyers or people over the age of 50.

finally'''' the bionic becomes real, now comes the decision, the' bionic 'and verizon or the 'photon' and sprint? any suggestions...........
19. RORYREVOLUTION (Posts: 3035; Member since: 12 Jan 2010)
Neither. SGS2 on Verizon, or SGS2 on Sprint, or SGS2 on AT&T.
20. Oof (unregistered)
Verizon by far has the fastest 4g.
SGS2: samsung comes out with new devices often and could leave you and you Galaxy in the dust as far a technology goes.
Bionic on the other hand you would have the latest motorola device for about a year. Since the dinara is set to release during the holidays, you need to add 6 months to that timeframe.
22. Thump3rDX17 (Posts: 2160; Member since: 10 May 2010)
if you feel more on the patient side and you're just not a Motorola fan boy like me you'd probably be better off waiting and seeing if Samsung surprises us with 4G connectivity on any of the US variants which i definitely doubt will happen on Sprint or Verizon's versions but i've been wrong before and i wouldn't want to steer you wrong but i will say Verizon's version is highly unlikely to get LTE due to the size of these first generation LTE radios they're still using as far as i know of so if you're eyeing Verizon more i can pretty much tell you now there are some worthy trade offs between the Bionic and GSII with the Bionic having Webtop and LTE and the Galaxy S II obviously with it's well above satisfactory performance and there's also the chance it could be Binged with Verizon so you might want to think about that but if you're eyeing Sprint and the Photon i say definitely wait for their version of the Galaxy S II because personally i don't think WiMAX makes enough of a difference to tip the scale in favor of the Photon at all even though it has Webtop functionality points same as the Bionic.

*UPDATES* apparently i was quick to put my foot in my mouth. it appears Sprint's version the Within has just passed the FCC with WiMAX and Verizon tweeted that it's version the Function will have LTE. i'm very surprised by this so after these new developments i'd by all means suggest getting the Galaxy S II if you decide Sprint but if you decide Verizon i would recommend taking a look at the Bionic first in case it has better battery life.
42. Thump3rDX17 (Posts: 2160; Member since: 10 May 2010)
*MORE UPDATES* apparently Verizon has yet again jumped the gun regarding a Galaxy S II report. no LTE support that we're aware of.
21. Sniggly (Posts: 7131; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
Hmm. Too bad I got the Atrix instead already. No way I can afford 300 spartans- I mean bucks- on a phone right now. And Verizon's prices are too high. But if I didn't have those issues, the Bionic it would be.
29. Sniggly (Posts: 7131; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
The Atrix is awesome, from what I've been able to see of it so far. My friend borrowed it today to check out the signal in her office, and she's borrowing it tomorrow to see how it works at her chalet an hour away. So I won't really get a full day with it until Thursday. :(
But the Gingerbread update rocks. I mean, I can't believe that you can uninstall AT&T's bloatware without rooting now. The only thing that troubles me is that Youtube playback seems oddly pixelated, while it plays perfectly on my X. You would think the higher resolution and smaller screen would make the images sharper, but instead it almost looks like I'm looking at the screen from the wrong angle.
Otherwise it's fine; battery lasts all day with minor usage and then some, screen is brilliant, the phone is smooth and benchmarking over 2500, the native task manager allows me to actually stop apps easily and quickly, web browser is relatively smooth, the fingerprint unlock works flawlessly.... I couldn't be happier. :)
30. biophone (Posts: 1894; Member since: 15 Jun 2011)
The atrix seems underrated to me. Huge battery 4 inch screen dual core 4g. It sounds like some phone.
33. Sniggly (Posts: 7131; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
Yeah, I unplugged the phone at about 9 in the morning, and now it's 2:30 and it's still rocking 50 percent. Granted, it hasn't been used that much today, but it still would've dropped more battery if it really sucked. My X would have been dead hours ago.
And don't forget the gig of ram. :)
31. HTCiscool (Posts: 449; Member since: 16 Jul 2011)
I stillv stand with the Sensation, there is however some speculation that some games won't all work properly on screens with qHD res.
34. Sniggly (Posts: 7131; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
The Sensation is f**king fantastic. Don't regret your decision. I love Sense 3.0, just as much as I like New Blur. As long as you get good reception wherever you need to be on a regular basis, you can't beat it.
Not to mention that with T-Mobile you'll never be charged overage for data. When you run out of high speed data they just cut you down to a slower speed until your bilk cycles. I think they're also the only carrier that allows you to split the cost of an upgrade up over several bills, and they're just plain less expensive than the competition.
41. Thump3rDX17 (Posts: 2160; Member since: 10 May 2010)
yeah, if not Verizon then i'd go to T-Mobile in a heartbeat and if that happened now i'd definitely get the G2x but it's not and i'm happy with my Droid 3, great phone, only 2 things is the RAM shortage and i don't like the hot yellow keyboard accents, i wish they were blue again but both really minor things.
25. whiteman (Posts: 2; Member since: 26 Jul 2011)
so does this mean verizon will sell the gs2 for more money than any other carriers?
26. Thump3rDX17 (Posts: 2160; Member since: 10 May 2010)
we can all only speculate with the little knowledge we have about that if we have any at all. xD

Wait would it be like Verizon to have a typo? Its, it is, It's

Look at the text. Two different dates for the same product? More fake bs
38. Sniggly (Posts: 7131; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
No, not really. It makes sense that they'll want to build more awareness of the phone before launch by putting it in the stores.

no it wasn't there is no current dual core lte phone X)
47. DroidGod (Posts: 48; Member since: 09 Jul 2011)
Ive been told by reliable source that the phone would release in Sept.

The thunderbolt is not dual core.
50. drscot (unregistered)
Evidently not true. Contacted my local Verizon store on 29 July and was told that they have had absolutely NO communication about the Motorola Bionic. If they are supposed to be displaying the phone starting today they ought to have it in their hot little hands. They don't! I think I'm going to jump ship with Verizon and look for another phone elsewhere. Will wait until 4 August just to be sure though.
