Verizon soon to get HTC Droid Incredible 2 in silver
Share:
When the HTC Droid Incredible 2 was launched this April, things again looked positive for the handset. But soon, Verizon had three LTE enabled phones with the HTC ThunderBolt, the Samsung DROID Charge and the LG Revolution. The Motorola DROID 3, while not a 4G device, offers what many are calling one of the best non-BlackBerry QWERTY keyboards ever attached to a smartphone. The yet to be introduced Motorola DROID Bionic creates a frenzy whenever the handset is mentioned and the Samsung Function will be the carrier's version of the Samsung Galaxy S II. As we reported, the latter model, considered the hottest handset of the summer and called by many the best Android phone ever, could be rolled out as soon as August 12th.
So how can Verizon drum up attention for a phone that seems outdated after just 3 to 4 months? The carrier's solution is to offer a color refresh if leaked pictures obtained by PocketNow are legit. The pictures show the HTC Droid Incredible 2 in silver and despite the new color, the specs remain the same as from the original black version. There is a 4 inch 480 x 800 resolution screen, with Android 2.3 now on board. A positively barbaric single-core 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 is under the hood.
The problem here is that the price of the HTC Droid Incredible 2 is $199.99 with a 2 year contract. That is also the price for the 4G enabled LG Revolution and the recently released Motorola DROID 3, which beats out the Droid Incredible 2 in just about every spec except for RAM. And it all means that once again, the HTC Droid Incredible 2 becomes Big Red's forgotten phone, even with a silver refresh. If Verizon takes an axe to the price tag, that might help matters somewhat, but it will have to happen soon before Verizon customers get to finally see what the Motorola DROID Bionic is all about.

For once, I agrre with biophone. I just picked up Incredible 2 after owning Incredible for a year. I chose it over other phones because it's HTC, it has Sence, and it's not 4.3 inches. So, don't write it off just yet. It's a great phone. And I would personally never get a Moto or LG.
Now I'm sorry I didn't wait for this silver one! :(

What do you mean for once. I have said mutiple times i dont like 4.3 inch screens and love sense. So therefore this isnt the first time you agree with me :).

it was part of verizon's summer sale, which seems to have ended already, but it was going for only $150 on contract, so i'm sure it received alot more sales than it would have.

HTC doesn't have a superphone on Verizon or att they need to bring a dual core phone with 4 to 4.3 inch screen and a qhd resolution with lte

Are u stupid? motorola photon4g, HTC EVO 3d, Motorola atrix 4g, HTC sensation, and the LG G2X. All i dont want is a tegra 2 so 3 of the phones are good if on verizon.

no he's not. there's no HTC phone with a dual-core processor and LTE connectivity. that's what he meant.

Thanks thump. In america there isnt one phone with lte and dual core. Both are requirments for his so called superphone. Anyway that is till the bionic comes out.

This phone is still a good phone I think. Good screen, good battery life, android 2.3,HTC sense, great camera, great build quality, and global. Dual-core doesn't make a phone much better really, if the performance is smooth and fast with a single 1ghz, then why do you need a dual-core? Yes LTE may be faster, but that's all that's against this phone, I would buy this over an LG Revolution any day

this is actually a really good phone, one of the best single core phones you can get in my opinion. if you just want a phone with everything you could need and great battery life then this and the Droid 3 are the ones to consider.

The Droid Incredible 2 is the best phone that VZW has out now. Zero lag, nearly bug free gingerbread, best battery life of any VZW phone (20+ hrs), its a multitasking machine, great build, fast data speeds for 3g, and, more. This single core phone performs better in a side by side comparison against the x2 and d3 which lag even though they have dual cores. This phone has everything that was promised in a dual vote phone but is just single core, go figure. The above article is not a fair review.

the Droid 3 doesn't lag. it'll studder sometimes if there's too much stuff running because of it's humble amount of RAM but then you just go and kill some tasks with the native task manager, no big deal. i have both phones and when i use the Incredible 2 it makes me realize that i've become spoiled to having Dual Cores because as smooth as the Incredible 2 is in comparison to other Single Core phones it feels completely last gen next to the Droid 3.

Specs arent everything. I have an iphone and it never lags. The software is huge. That not to say having great specs is bad. Both the d3 and incredible are great phones but i would rather have an incredible.

oh yeah, i know what you're saying, i'm not saying the Droid Incredible 2 is a bad laggy phone in comparison to the Droid 3 or anything extreme here, it's just the Droid 3 feels a little smoother and snappier with it's extra power and the good job Moto has done with the Applications Platform this time around. i do commend the Droid Incredible 2 for it's superb battery life where the Droid 3 has improved over the Droid 2 in but i'm still having to think about getting another battery for it.

You really cant go wrong with Either one. I didnt like how the article made it seem like such a bad phone where all they talked about was specs is more what im mad about.
22. Thump3rDX17 posted on 31 Jul 2011, 23:48 0 0
yeah, for some people the Incredible 2 is just the one to fit the bill. it's a very good phone but i do agree they need to drop the price.
23. biophone posted on 31 Jul 2011, 23:52 1 0
Alot of people dont live in a 4g area dont care about dual core love htc sense and need a excellent battery. The price could be lower but for those people it should sell.

Truth is... The Incredible 2 outperforms the Charge. Just watch the youtube of them "vs." each other.
That is because RAM is WAY MORE important to most user operations than dual processors. The way to make the I2 actually close to incredible would be to pump it to 2 gigs of RAM.
I was among those who got caught up in the whole "screen shipment debacle"... but with an early upgrade available, I gave the I2 a hard look, and passed.
Oh well...I am hoping against hope the Xperia Arc is available in cdma.

i'd say the Incredible 2 definitely outperforms the Charge and i own both of them. the Charge is pretty underwhelming in terms of power but i still think it's the better LTE phone to get atm.
i agree RAM is important but only when running many tasks or the degree of how power extensive the interface is like we know Sense can be. Dual-Core processors make a bigger difference than RAM does because you can remedy low RAM and you can't make a MSM8655 meet the potential of a OMAP4430.

Dual core is new for mobile cpus... Honestly i want to upgrade from my HTC Eris but i just can't do it until there's a crack for GB so i can throw cm7 on it... sorry HTC i love your hardware and you're beautiful and sexy and amazing. i just don't like sense... :/

What what what. How dare you. Its time to go to confesion. Haha jk. But really the order of interface goes like this first is ios second is sense third is stock android fourth is motoblur fith is rim sixth is wp7 seventh is Verizon's feature phones eigth is palm's os and coming in last aka ninth is touchwiz. So sense is 2 so im guessing your getting an iphone good choice. That is if your blind and dont like sense. In which case im guessing your going for touchwiz since you cant see anyway. Its like talking to stevie wonder. Ok im kidding and i understand interface is all relative but come on sense is great whats not to like.

i'd move TW up if i were you. the fourth iteration looks pretty fantastic if you ask anybody with eyes.
29. biophone posted on 01 Aug 2011, 02:52 0 0
Tw still looks cartoonish to me. Im sorry but its like have bugs bunny on my phone. The super amoled screens cant even save it. I hate touchwiz. Thats not to say some dont really like it but then again some can see better then others. Maybe i can movie it ahead of vzw feature phones and palm but thats about it. (joking i understand interface is personal choice)
30. Thump3rDX17 posted on 01 Aug 2011, 03:06 0 0
have you seen a Galaxy S II at work before? i thought all previous iterations of TW looked cartoony just like you said but after seeing TW4 in action i was impressed.
31. biophone posted on 01 Aug 2011, 03:18 0 0
Not in person i looked at youtube videos of tw4 and i dont like it. Its better but i wint buy any samsung phone that i cant root so i can take off tw.
33. wassup posted on 02 Aug 2011, 09:33 0 0
you could just put launcher pro on it, it looks really good, but i prefer the TW4, i know it's wierd, but it looks more functonal too me.
i got my SGS2 today :D i'm so F-ING happy now!
32. biophone posted on 01 Aug 2011, 03:22 0 0
Then again i only like ios sense and stock android. Motoblur looks mechanical still rim looks outdated tw is cartonish wp7 is feature phone esque really the top 3 are the only ones i will buy.
