You people should be ashamed for even posting this BS. The Incredible isn't going anywhere anytime soon and you'd know that if you'd use a little due diligence and contact Verizon. It's shoddy reporting like this that gets people in an uproar for nothing.

Yeah i can't imagine this phone being discontinued already. It just came out a month ago! But then again the Droid Eris didn't last long either...

they never said it was going to be discontinued. Yea, they are being sensational, but if you break it down to its parts, the article is just saying that the droid X has even bigger specs so its assuming the incredibles "top spot", and people on the waiting list for the incredible are getting a choice from VZW to stay on the incredible's list, or get the droid X faster.

It's a simple fact that, if given the choice between 2 phones, and 1 is significantly better in several ways, and the other can't be shipped for a month, consumers will take the available-now-better-spec phone 9.9 out of 10 times....

Assumingly so... but there are many people that see the DROID X and see too much phone.. My wife wants the incredible becuase she just thinks the X is too big for her. There are also those (like me) who have been burned by moto before and have been loyal HTC users for years, so may prefer to go with the manufacturer of their choice. Grant the DROID/Milestone, devour and backflip are way better than moto's past... but your past is a hard thing to run away from, it may take a few more years of solid performance before moto can truly recover from their tarnished reputation and get back to the glory days of the Startac indistructability and solid performance.

if they are changing the screen it would be a smart move can you just imagine the wieners. The one you sold me had a OLED screen and this replacement has a TFT

The Incredible will be a solid alternative from the x. If you find the droid x too big, you can get very similar specs with the smaller screen incredible. So no, it won't be discontinued any time soon.

I think the alternative to the X will be DROID 2, keyboard, the same powerful processor and GPU, and a not too big screen

What I can't understand is why is this AMOLED screen so hard to produce? Samsung is one of the biggest companies in the world and I know they would not turn down a profit, so what the hell is AMOLED made out of to create a shortage? I have heard that their AMOLED phones are coming first as far as orders.

I think thats because they are producin Super Amoled for their devices. Samsung wants to get a 10% market share in smartphones.

yea but I read somewhere that they produce a certain amount and then after their phones then they are left with so many screens to sell to HTC. Thats bad business because HTC and other companies will go somewhere else and samsung will lose millions of dollars? By the way, they are not going to affect the US market... RIght now the IPHONE and Android are going to dominate this market for smartphones...HTC and APPLE are the hot buys right now..

Well, then again, they just basically announced a 4" android phone for all 4 major carriers; AT&T - Captivate, T-Mobile - Vibrant, Verizon - Fascinate, & Sprint - Epic 4G.

He's right. Samsung have focused their production on their own hand sets. They are trying to produce 30mil a yr. That doesn't leave much for other vendors.

I almost wonder if this couldn't be considered sabotage to prevent HTC from selling as many devices...

They wont say goodbye until they offer a suitable replacement which would be another HTC phone with Sense.

I'm a fan of PhoneArena in the sense that it's a good repository of the Cell Phone industry news & rumors ... mostly because they've become adept at re-posting everything posted elsewhere so it saves the reader all the browsing the net time. However, some of the editors on this site need a reality check!! Come on guys, "saying goodbye to the Incredible?" ... dream on.

Just called Verizon. They are NOT taking any pre-orders for the Droid X yet, only BB is. I can not cancel the Inc and switch to the X "until" and thats the key. Until they are ready for pre-order through them later this week or next. CSR told me what ever BB does up is up to BB.

The Incredible isn't going anywhere anytime soon...its an awesome device as I have one however, I do intend on getting the X somehow. The X is awesome but I'm a gadget person as well as most anyone on this site but the masses of customers are not. So you may wonder why anyone in their right mind would want an incredible when the x is far superior in specs? Well, its not all about bells and whistles to everyone. My wife takes one look at the x and thinks wow that thing is beastly, where she loves the look and feel of the incredible and she is not the only person with that opinion. VZW didn't spend millions to market the Incredible to toss it aside in a couple months, hell they're still selling the KIN.....well...sort of. At the very least it will be like the Eris was to the original Droid, a complimentary device. That doesn't mean that the model number won't change due to new parts etc... I also don't fault phonearena nor any other website for posting this as their motive is to give the people who show up to this site something to click on to keep them coming back as we all have bills to pay. So far I think they do a great job and don't show a clear alliance with any carrier or manufacturer. Keep up the good work phonearena! RULE THE AIR!

The SKU phase out is for the Omoled screen version, the new SKU which isn't in the system as of yet is for a new display model one which is sporting a new "Super TFT" display from Sony! This article is Flamebate, stop the nonsense

at least 80% of phonearena's article has this line: This article contains unofficial information. This article contains unofficial information. This article contains unofficial information. I do think it is cool that Verizon is giving customers an option. It isn't like they are saying if you wanted a Incredible you can't have one.

2 days after the Droid X comes out a new phone comes out.. and 2 days after that a new phone... IF you want the latest and greatest phone, you need to buy a new phone out of contract every 2 days.
