Verizon says it will have first LTE handset by next summer
Verizon CTO Anthony Melone says that the summer of 2011 will be when the carrier will launch its first LTE handset. That is 6 months earlier than Verizon had previously said to expect it to introduce a phone for the service. In some markets, Verizon will have LTE pipelines up and running before the end of this year and Melone says the carrier expects to have its first phone out 3 to 6 months after the service is launched. The nation's largest cellphone carrier has not hinted at which manufacturer will be the first to offer an LTE compatible device. That is the good news. The bad news is that Melone made some comments that indicate that Verizon is looking down the same tiered pricing road as AT&T is. The future is 4G and metered pricing while unlimited pricing and 3G service is the past.

Make sure its got at least a 4.3" super AMOLED screen with a resolution greater than 800x480 running Android or WPS.. and made by HTC if theyre still around. This will TRULY be an Iphone killer.

wifi doesnt count as 4g when it doesnt replace your current technology

Are you for real??? So WiMax isn't 4G.......................I'm just trying to understanding your logic

You mean the 1st 4G phone in the U.S. that might have 2 to 3 more this year? That not 4G, T Mobile and AT&T have better speeds. Next year when the 4G phones come it will be the end of Sprint, just you wait.

12. herbiederb posted on 11 Mar 2010, 13:16

Agreed... Sprint better build up that fake 4G network they have as fast as possible to lock in subs for 2yrs or they're done.

Only time will tell. That's why I have my hands in two different cookie jars. T-mobile and Sprint. Even though I feel like Sprint will succeed with their early jump on 4G.

You obviously don't do you research. LTE is only getting 4-5mbs with bursts of 12mbs. Wimax already achieves these speeds, so In fact your saying that LTE is not 4g either? Also just to clarify, 4g refers to the technology used, meaning 4th generation, not speed.

24. merkeke posted on 12 Mar 2010, 11:25

ok, sprint might as well start putting out comercials about there 5g network

25. underwood2012 posted on 12 Mar 2010, 16:18

Okay. You might as well eat my dick, Shit head.

Well I agree with merkeke. According to the CTIA Wimax is not a 4G technology. Not only that but they only offer services in 2 cities hardly a network. Secondly Sprint doesn't even own any of the Wimax towers. They sold all of there network towers to a private investment company. Also for donjonson410 LTE is getting more like 25 - 30 mbps not 4-5 mbps. They stated that 4-5 mbps would be more real world. Second in Consumer reports annual cellphone review in January the wimax network was only producing speeds of about 2-3 mbps in real world use.

On second thought... this Iphone killer on VZW LTE in 2011 might be Iphone 4G!... DOH! (heads explode) If this is true... ATT and Sprint will simultaneously implode on themselves. VZW FTW BIGTIME
