It seems like the changes in data plans will be better for some people while others are getting screwed. Anyone on an individual select plan is only gonna be paying $10 more per month for data, which is actually better than the $15 for the vpak. Unfortunately, if you're on the basic plan or a family plan with several lines, it's going to be much more. I'm on a 4 line family select plan, and to upgrade to the connect will be another $40, which I'm gonna have to pay for myself since my parents and brother probably have no use for it. Needless to say, paying $40 instead of $15 is NOT something I'm happy about. HOWEVER (and DON'T quote me on this cuz it's not certain), I talked to a friend who works for Verizon, and he said that if I was already had Vpak that I should be grandfathered into it and wouldn't be affected by such changes. Though keep in mind he had no knowledge of these new changes. If you read the links in the article under the 'Refreshed Vcast Features', it does specifically say that the Vpak would be grandfathered, but most likely is just refering to existing phones, not for when a new phone like the rogue will be activated. I called verizon yesterday and had them add the vpak to my current phone, just in case my friend ends up being right. Worst case, I waste $15 by having it for an extra month.

You only will require to have a data plan on phones RELEASED AFTER A CERTAIN DATE THAT SPECIFY THE REQUIREMENT... This is why everyone hates Verizon, your all so quik to judge but no one actually understands, and you have to leave it to us rougue reps who are fotunate enough to pop in here and correct the wrongs so people understand....CALL YOUR PROVIDER OR STOP READING PROPAGANDA!

On a connect family plan the primary line pays $10 more than it would on a select plan, and gets unlimited web and mobile email. The secondary lines can either be considered "select secondary" for 9.99 per month, or "connect secondary" for 19.99 per month. This way all the secondary lines can choose to either have data or not. So if your parents make your line the primary line you can be a connect line for $10, vs. having Vcast for $15. You won't get the video clips, but if your phone has flash support you can watch youtube, or hopefully HULU, if its real flash, so who needs Vcast video anyway. and connect includes mobile email. And if you REALLY want Vcast video clips instead of watching youtube, Verizon will sell you a $10/month video on demand feature. The only problem with these kinds of plans is they pretty much assume that anyone who wants unlimited web ALSO wants unlimited text. For most customers thats true, but not all. Some people, especially older folks who are computer savvy and want a web capable device, might like an option for web without having to pay for unlimited text. Tmobile and ATT both have that. The only options for unlimited web on one of these "enhanced multimedia" phones are through a connect or premium plan, which includes unlimited text. If you have a basic plan, and you add a data option, its not unlimited web. Verizon doesn't like to give you unlimited data, because they are afraid of people actually using it too much and taking up too much spectrum. Thats why the aircards changed a while back from unlimited to 5 GBs. I don't really see the value in a 19.99 feature with only 75 MB. thats just a plan to get you to switch up to the connect plan after your next bill is ridiculously high from overage, like the 39.99 aircard plan. They only have that because some people will buy at a lower rate because they are cheapskates and don't think they should have to have a higher plan, but then after one month they see the overage so they switch to the plan they should have gotten in the first place. Its bait and switch tactic. It seems to me Verizon is forcing these plans because 1. they want to increase their average revenue per user, and 2. with their plans already the most expensive in wireless, the only way to get people to spend more money each month than they already do is to force them to add a feature plan in order to use the cool new phones. Verizon knows that customers don't come in asking for data, they come in asking for cool phones. People don't want to pay for data, and most people that really use data and are willing to pay for it don't want to use an "enhanced multimedia" phone. They use a blackberry or a palm or a windows mobile device. Enhanced multimedia phones and data features exist because everyone cancels their vcast after the free month is over and then they see it on the bill and call in and complain. So if you make it a requirement, people can't cancel it. Tmobile is now doing the same thing with REQ codes on their features, so customers can't get a discount on a new phone contingent upon adding a feature then call in and cancel the feature.

That $10 versus $15 is only giving 25mb of data, according to what's posted the two ways to get unlimited are either a Connect or Premium plan. Verizon is not using any lube

The connect plan is what I'm referring to that would be $10 more for certain people.

Don your a suck an idiot, I seriously think you come in and post stuff just to piss people off. Would you buy a Ferrari just because you had $100,000? NO! because if it breaks you cant afford the parts to fix it, It costs 2500 dollars just to pay someone to replace the battery, can you imagine replaceing the cost of an oil change or a tune up? Just because you can afford the cost of the product doesnt mean you can afford the cost to maintain it, these are advanced devices and are advertised that way, How can you hate the provider for making a phone for people who can afford it? Are you going to get mad at everyone that doesnt make something the way you want? If you want a phone w/ out data cost, we have that for you..But if you want an advanced phone (Ferrari) you are told upfront the cost associated with that device...Dont be mad at the people setting the bar, be mad at the fact your not tall enough to reach it.

You can't be serious, comparing a phone to a car? While I will admit fault on pricing, silly me to think serial gouger vzw would only charge $10 extra for the bundle, that still doesn't justify what's happening. Papa, you keep skipping over the fact that unlimited data is only on the Connect and Premium plans and just because VCast wasn't for you means that is how it applies to all. Sprint has a messaging plan $10 cheaper than vzw and thier data plan is still $15 and you can use that on any phone besides the Instincts, RIM's and Pre, I'm really anxious to see how vzw subs that waited on the Pre are going to feel when they realize how the bill will increase

Papa, you said everyone doesn't need all the add ons in the other story about the new phones, you do realize you have 3 options for UNLIMITED data with Sprint. There's a $15 Basic with some tv and radio, $25 Data Premier with lots of tv/radio and nav which brings me to the Everything plans. All those plans have UNLIMITED data and still trump anything compared to vzw and there are only three phones that have a mandatory plan that is still cheaper.
