Verizon now offers the Lumia Icon at a lower price

0. phoneArena 11 Jul 2014, 07:01 posted on

Verizon has dropped the price on its exclusive Nokia Lumia Icon today, placing it in the same bracket as the iPhone 5c, BlackBerry's Bold 9930 and the Galaxy S4. You can now get a shiny new Windows Phone flagship for $49.99 on a 2-year contract. If long-term commitment isn't the thing for you, however, the option of getting it for $27.49 per month with Verizon's EDGE program is still available.

Still too much. After the LG G3 $100 on contract price reveal from yesterday just pay the extra $50 for a thriving ecosystem and better phone. I personally don't want the LG but it's the best option right now. But wait for the eventual price war when iPhone 6 come out. No doubt that phone will sale like hotcakes and everyone will want to combat it with huge discounts.

Lumia Icon/930>LG G3
I would rather take WP rather than an inferior screen. No Sarcasm.

Now about that embarrassing remark you said towards me on a WP article?
Cranking ya.

In this case above, I'd take both or the G3 first to avoid the floor tiles. The 930 is a nice phone though.

Oh man!
I was actually thinking about you while writing this comment. :p
Screen is probably the most important aspect for me.

Dude, if you think you can comment stupidity and hope to get many thumbs ups, you need to get your brain checked. The 930 is a WP flagship, and on specs, of course the G3 is better. But specs aren't everything. Get me kiddo?

I recently switched from a Lumia 920 to a Galaxy S5. I was thinking, "Ok, now I have this great ecosystem with the latest hardware". In reality, I have a phone which seems to go through battery faster, and doesn't do as much as my 920 with WP8.1. I can't find a lockscreen which even approaches the information available on my 920. The music app sucks compared to the default one on WP. Chrome sucks (it's a pain to even open a bookmark). While there are more apps, the quality is lacking. The calandar is not nearly as good as the one in WP8.1. I'm really wishing I went with the Icon.

God I hate liars or ignorant people like you. I am wondering which one are you. You can't find a lock screen that approaches the information on your 920. There are so many to choose from. Not to mention offer customization above and beyond anything that WP8.1 could ever offer.
I love the next one. The music app sucks. Really you couldn't find a music app. Just because it practically has them all, but the music app sucks. Chrome browser sucks, and you never used it before you got the S5? What about Firefox, opera, or any other browser on the app store? So do they all suck? The calander sucks, this suck and that sycks on Android.
Gotta bash the competition in order to get people to buy into WP. With only 7.6 million WP sold globally around the world for Q1 2014. Gotta get people looking at WP devices any way we can.
With Microsoft making Android phones as well now. Why, because Android sucks? Its because it offers so much to so many. More than WP.

Microsoft making Android phones is not about the quality of Android OS, Android got popular because it was an alternative to iOS and it flooded the market, Android is popular because of that but we all know that even with project butter and other actions that Android has taken it is still a laggy, insecure OS. Microsoft is using Android's name but the product itself at least so far has run MS services so its not true Android. Besides Android going flat, HTC one etc among others adopting Tile based interface shows that they are aware of how good WP os so they copy its UI.

Actually I have no problem to switch to WP but I find the UI ugly(preference) and the app ecosystem is frankly lagging. But what I hate most is these pathetic fanboys and shills, no probs with the actual OS.

Not to mention I'll lose the "beauty of Android" in the switch. So currently a Big No to WP.

True android is whatever anyone wants it to be. True android is like a blank canvas. You're confusing true android, and so called "stock" android. True android is any version of android, stock android is android without any outside software integrated into it's framework. Even the version on Google's Nexus devices isn't completely stock android. Google's services are not a part of stock android, but of Google's version of android, same with Amazon's, Samsung's, HTC's, LG's, Sony's, & even Microsoft's version of android. All of those are skinned or forked versions of android, with each OEM putting their own spin on it. Once any service get integrated into android's framework, it is no longer stock android.

The agreement Google has with other companies regarding android allows them to change things to a certain extent, but if they fork it beyond a certain point, they lose access to Google's services, including the Playstore. In some cases like Amazon and Microsoft, this isn't an issue because they want the customer to use their own suite of services.

Microsoft's version of android isn't Google's, and it isn't pure stock android either, but it is android nevertheless. That's the whole point of android, to use it as a starting point and build it out according to your needs. But it does seem odd considering all the trash talk leveled at android by MS and it's fans, and now they're using it when they have their own viable OS. If the Nokia X had been a one shot I would've understood it, but considering there's a sequel on the way, and after they dropped the cost of WP, why still do it?

Yup, he posted something wrong about Android, so he's a liar. He is stating the experience he had with his new S5, positive or negative. You need to get your brain out of your back side, and start thinking, if that's a word to you really.

I like the music app, simple, I can download my songs. My tablet has access to over 4000 songs as well as my pc and phone as a result of the sync between the devices. Love that the music store found nearly all my music that was in my files. And now all my devices can stream them even when the device that has the original files is offline.

I do like Zune though, when I found they stopped the product I didn't buy the zune hd like I wanted to.

And on my tablet and desktop pc. Why not? I don't need something fancy, and the fact it has found and sync GB of data I don't see a reason to download one of the 'free' music apps that feel half baked even on my note 3

That's a good price for a powerful WP8 handset. I got to try one out for a bit and was impressed with how smoothly everything ran. The maps software was quite good and so was the camera and call quality. External speaker/ ringtone volume left a bit to be desired though. Despite its boxy shape the phone was pretty comfortable to hold due to it's slightly rounded off back.

Shame they didn't do it sooner though.

That's a good price to be honest. This phone would fit my needs well if it were water resistant.

Checked my mail and my z2 is in..... Can't wait!
