Verizon's Samsung Omnia II launches December 2 for $199.99

We’ve been hearing recently that Verizon is to finally launch the Samsung Omnia II on December 2, but the information has been a far cry from being official. Now, we can pat our tipsters on the back for sharing this precious info with us back then, since Big Red has just announced the upcoming December 2 availability of the new Omnia. The Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphone will start with a price tag of $199.99 with a two-year contract and after a $100 mail-in rebate.

As you can see from the official image, the Samsung Omnia II will have a slightly different design, when compared to the European version, though we cannot say which one looks better. Fortunately, the eccentric red back will stay (as we showed you in our exclusive pictures from last week). However, the smarty will still pack a large 3.7-inch WVGA AMOLED resistive touchscreen, 5-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, support for DivX and Xvid, as well as the widgetish TouchWiz 2.0 interface. Was the Omnia II worth the waiting? Feel free to post in the comments section below!

Now WinMo fans have a heck on an option. :) ...I'm still holding out for an HD2-like phone tho, lol.

I got the env Touch about a month ago, so really, I shouldn't even be thinking about jumping the boat. I do have a NE2 that just kicked in this month, so I'll probably just sit on it until something in the realm of the HD2 comes out and is out long enough for the first "service pack" to come out.

I think I would buy this phone if the HD2 wasn't coming out with a capacitive screen. Of course someone will Put TF3.5D on it to emulate the HD2 but it still wouldn't be the same. If someone gave it to me I would be very excited, but still buy a HD2

but people, this is going to be verizon's best phone by far...so all of you sayng your going to wait and go with the HD2, your going to have to jump ship to Tmobile which is the worst 3G coverage of the big three. Good luck to that!!! lol id go with this phone the day it comes out if i could afford it.
