Verizon Wireless and TiVo partner to offer Tivo Mobile service

Verizon Wireless and TiVo Inc. announced that they have partnered to launch a new mobile service for Verizon's customers, dubbed TiVo Mobile. The service, which is specifically designed to work on cell phones, will allow subscribers to remotely search and select TV programs and shows and schedule them for DVR recording on their internet-connected TiVo device just by using their mobile phones. To get access to Tivo Mobile, subscribers will have to download the application from the Verizon Wireless Get It Now suite of services. TiVo Mobile service is expected to be available this summer. The terms of the deal as well as Verizon's pricing for the service were not revealed. There are reports, however, that it will cost additional $5 a month, besides the usual wireless service charges the customers pay and the TiVo's subscription fee.
