vcast is not compatible for pda's and smart phones...the data plan is 29.99 a month but that price is just the base price for email and web access. that price is not a combination of two features

60. (unregistered) posted on 14 Nov 2008, 10:58

Omnia will require at least the 29.99 data plan. No more pay-as-you-go or data block on smartphones.

65. (unregistered) posted on 14 Nov 2008, 15:36

will you be able to buy the xv 6850 without the data plan

68. (unregistered) posted on 15 Nov 2008, 19:51

I need to vent here.. I think that it is absolute CRAP (putting it nicely) that you are required to have the data plan for the new PDA phones. I have Wi-Fi at home and at work, I don't need the freaking data plan! This is just another example of pure GREED coming from Verizon and it ticks me off big time! One would think that with the economy the way it is, Verizon would realise that making the data plan manditory is just plain stupid and an unnecessary expense on it's customers. Verizon, if you're reading this, you can go and F&*% yourselves once my contract is over!

Does anyone know if the Omnia will be able to stream radio?

19. (unregistered) posted on 13 Nov 2008, 12:13

The rumor is yes. But I have an application that's free to download called Flycast on my Curve and they say it will work on the Storm. There is a 15 min delay but hey....it's better than nothing

23. (unregistered) posted on 13 Nov 2008, 12:55

I'm #15. I'm pretty sure that the Storm will stream radio out of the box. I am just trying to decide between the Storm and Omnia.

I got to play w/ a storm today and came away very impressed. One of my co-workers played hands on w/ both and said he was impressed w/ both. Ha said he liked the omnia a lot would get it except for the fact he doesnt like WM. Again I only played w/ storm but he seemed impressed w/ omnia

i love how all the vzw fanboys are justifying not having a "simply everything" plan. sure, sprint may be going under, but that doesn't mean that vzw can't offer the same plan. and stop using the network as an excuse for everything vzw does. the network is good, but like any carrier, its not perfect. back to the topic at hand, the blackberry tropical storm julia looks pretty good. but, like every other vzw fanboy in here, until you get to use it, dont comment on how "amazing" it is. the omnia would be cool, if vzw didnt strip away some features (auto focus, wifi... yes, wifi is better than evdo rev a, but a data plan is still required for majority of use.... it would be nice to have it though)...

34. Fan_of_Fanboys (unregistered) posted on 13 Nov 2008, 15:02

Everything I read has shown that the Omnia will have w-fi...Do you have proof other wise? B/C BGR reported it will have wi-fi The auto-focus I have no clue about but being how far away the release is for the phone until VZW states it will not have it lets just wait on that on (again, I just don't know on it)

67. (unregistered) posted on 14 Nov 2008, 18:24

I just held the Omnia for the first time, and yes it does have Auto-focus and who cares about wi fi? The data plan will be required and it'll work wherever you have cell coverage.

69. (unregistered) posted on 15 Nov 2008, 19:56

Are you joking about saying, "who cares about Wi-Fi?" Are you stupid or just retarded? Have you experienced how much faster wi-fi is than Verizon's crappy internet? Why should I have to pay for a data plan if I have Wi-fi at work and home? I don't know about you, but I can barely afford the phone... and the 29.99 data plan, well it ain't happening! Piss off Verizon!

21. (unregistered) posted on 13 Nov 2008, 12:28

What is the extra $15.00/month for the smartphone for? My data plan does include vcast.

26. (unregistered) posted on 13 Nov 2008, 13:00

no no no...its 29.99. flat rate. that vcast will drop off once you activate a pda because vcast is NOT compatible with any pda's or smartphones.

29. (unregistered) posted on 13 Nov 2008, 14:03

the storm will have true real web access, but there is no intentions of streaming radio. I have one right now, and I have checked the apps store as well,.....nothing there for that buddy sorry.
