Really doubt it. This is one of those times when people celebrate way too soon, I say it's just a representative saying things they don't know, I would be glad to be mistaken though

yeah, that's why a Samsung and a Verizon rep said the same thing out of nowhere right?

No need to get sarcastic when you don't know anything about it just like that rep, it's just economics kid, the carriers aren't looking out for you, they are trying to sell you as many things/services for as much as they can, the equation is pretty simple, less unlocked bootloaders equals less illegal tethering, plain and simple. Again I would be glad to be wrong but the cynic in me tells me I'm not

itsmore likely that the computer auto response or CSR mistook this question as a questino for unlocked global capabilities.
teh developer version of the phone will be available soon, why would they unlock the regular one? They specifically ordered it that way.
youre getting your hopes up.

The only thing that gave me pause in the response from Sammy was the part about "Should this be available, it will be posted in our website...." And then there was the suggestion to check back periodically for updates.
With no timeline, worst case is that an unlocked boot loader becomes available the week before the GS IV is released. I am not saying a VZW edition GS III with unlocked boot loader is not going to happen soon. Just that other software upgrades (like ICS for RAZR) came with more 'official' timeline specificity.

Having an unlocked bootlader is nice but I also would also like to see them remove the persistent wifi notification and have the wifi toggle put back in its appropriate place. If Verizon can do all that then I would consider keepingmy S3 but I know Verizon always over promises and under delivers.

I am still able to install updates with the lock BL, ones that are not official....and, you can use safestrap or BootMenu to install a second ROM....but an unlocked BL would be great...

sprints Evo lte sucks balls as well as every phone they have other than the s3 that everyone has. tmobiles only good phone is the s2 and s3 and soon to be the note. Att has the one x but that phone has issues and lags and the note. verizon has the s3 also but the razr the new incredible, nexus and soon to be hd motorola all smash the compitition. Verizon has the best phones the only one they are missing is the galaxy note
