Verizon MAP list shows 5 inch HTC DLX to be called HTC DROID DNA

Verizon's minimum advertised pricing list has been a great source of information in the past and once again the list gives us some information on the 5 inch HTC6435LVW aka the HTC DLX; according to the MAP list, the device will be known as the HTC DROID DNA...

Just tell me if it has a microSD card for my music and movies and This will be mine on the 20th! Retail unfortunately, but hey, I'm one of those guys that uses his unlimited data........

Butterfly J has SD slot so I am 95% sure this version will also have an SD slot. I think i might still get the Note 2 though, I have been waiting all year for DLX but the Note is here NOW and it looks like it performs just as well.

I feel ya, I just can't see myself with a 5.5" phone. I barely see myself with a 5" phone. That, and I've really loved my Rezound, especially since ICS hit, so I'm expecting them to up the ante with this device, and really knock it out the park.

I have decided to hold off on the note. Well Verizon helped. Having to wait til the 26th of November has made me realize I can check other phones out. More news will come out about the DNA. Maybe an Optimus Blaze that has been rumoured for a while. Maybe a Nexus (although Verizon does not deserve the Nexus). Right now, though, I liked what I saw with the Note 2. But since I have had lots of HTC phones in the past and only the Thunderbolt disappointed, they are worth me waiting a bit.

I like Droid Incredible X better, just because it has a X in it. X just makes everything more badass. I wonder if this would have red buttons as well... Red buttons.
20. MobileCaseReview (Posts: 242; Member since: 10 Feb 2012)
biggest reason why I think they changed it. Droid Incredible X is an acronym for DIX. Now say that out loud, then say. See my reasoning lol.
24. Berzerk000 (Posts: 4273; Member since: 26 Jun 2011)
Yeah lol, but it's still a cool name... Without the acronym
41. ChangMin2012 (Posts: 87; Member since: 14 Apr 2012)
Yeah, we can tell them Note Hores, that they can look at our DIX and marvel at it's huge size not to mention that it's screen size is so big, they wouldn't want to have it any other way when we shove it to them.

I don't see the Galaxy Note 2 on Verizon! Come take my money!

I just went into a T-Mobile store to feel one up; sheer gratification!!! Then, after seeing this article, I stepped into the Verizon Store in Union Square (across the street from PETCO) to ask about the Verizon release date and citing the information contained herein. The dweeb at Verizon wouldn't give me any info and played dumb (at least I think he was playing, sad to think he really might be that dense). I looked at him and said, "that's okay, I'll go to another store." Geeez, you'd think with the quotas they give these guys there would be more of an effort to lock in a sale. I'll just go back to him (after I buy it at another store) and wave the $700, or so, he lost in his dweebie face.

Pre-order starts tomorrow via a Verizon employee who always gets me hands on with phones not released yet. Go back tomorrow
13. Droid_X_Doug (Posts: 5993; Member since: 22 Dec 2010)
I soo hope you are right on pre-order start. Normally I get an e-mail heads-up from VZW (I have an upgrade available, and they want me to use it) when pre-orders are about to start. So far, it has been silent this week.

Thanks but, there's always a glitch in the system specific to the Unlimited Data feature when you pre-order on-line. And, then, God forbid, something is wrong with the unit (you know, sh¡t does happen - look at all those "other" phones that were brand new with nicks and cuts of all sorts, not to mention defective purple-picture-taking camera sensors, bad wi-fi radios, etc, etc, etc....the list is just too long).
I wanna make sure my Galaxy Note 2 is PURRRFECT before I take it home forever.
No worries, I have a discrete connection at the SOHO store, I'm stopping in before 5pm (will update if I get anything). I'm still going back to the Union Square store, though, to wave the lost $700 in that reps dweebie face. (bet he's not an Android user).

I feel you on being 100% sure your unit is perfect, but I never go to a Verizon store for anything unless I want to see the phone I want in all its full glory.
You can go to Amazon Wireless & get the phone shipped the next day & ALWAYS pay less. That goes for phones that are not upgrades also. WireFly is also very good with full prices. Verizon always rapes you on full price as well as upgraded prices.
I always pay less online than at a Verizon store, be it full price or upgrade price.
If I were a robot the Samsung Galaxy Note II would be my girlfriend because DAMN that phone is SEXY! lol
27. PAPINYC (banned) (Posts: 2315; Member since: 30 Jul 2011)
I feel you on that, the only problem is [heaven forbid that 1 in every 1,000,000th that something is wrong with the unit] then you have to ship back-and-forth. And, if it's Verizon on-line or Customer Service, the unit has to get back to them before they exchange it or you can pay twice and wait for 1 credit.
Don't mind going into a Verizon Corporate as, there's more accountability there. Besides, I've been raped before (no biggy)....lol
31. SuperAndroidEvo (Posts: 4807; Member since: 15 Apr 2011)
That is the risk. That is true. Let's just say I haven't had those troubles yet. I just hope you didn't jinx me now. lol
If I have a problem with my next phone I'ma come'ing knocking. lol
35. PAPINYC (banned) (Posts: 2315; Member since: 30 Jul 2011)
Don't worry, I won't jinx you!
5. androiddownsouth (Posts: 598; Member since: 02 May 2012)
Galaxy Note 2 will hit Verizon, but I'll take this phone over the Note 2. I'm not a huge fan of the big screens, and 5" is the max size I'll take on a phone. That's just me. For those that want the Note 2, more power to ya, I'm sure it rocks. Just not for me.

Can't go wrong with either one. It would be nice to compare them both in my hands before making a choice.
14. androiddownsouth (Posts: 598; Member since: 02 May 2012)
I cannot disagree with you at all.

With the exception of the Thunderbolt, I have loved each HTC phone I have owned (besides the thunderbolt, I have owned the Incredible, Incredible 2 and Rezound). My only constant complaint has been the LED notification. Always a source of irritation for me: too small, not really customizable, etc. So, I would give the DNA (I too prefer DLX or Droid Incredible X) a chance, but there are a couple things i am concerned about: no SD slot, battery life. I will say the price, as listed, is surprising. I wonder if a 32 GB variant will go for 299.
16. androiddownsouth (Posts: 598; Member since: 02 May 2012)
So far no word on the SD card slot. Really that is all I'm concerned about if it comes with the 2500 maH battery I'm hearing it will have.
12. lubba (Posts: 1313; Member since: 17 Jan 2011)
COOl phone, s**tty name, on a expensive carrier.
17. androiddownsouth (Posts: 598; Member since: 02 May 2012)
May be more expensive than most competition, but you do get what you pay for in the best overall network in the nation.

I thought the same about the Rezound. the other name thrown about was the Vigor. I remember thinking that they could never use a crappy name like Rezound....It has to be the Vigor. But gotta say it's the best phone I have ever owned. I can cut some slack about the name.
33. letsb4real25 (Posts: 21; Member since: 28 Dec 2011)
I totally agree with you. I have personally had several HTC phones going all the way back to the Touch Pro 2, Hero, EVO, EVO 3D, and Rezound and it was my fav. It's definitely an underrated phone. Ive had it since last November and it has been pretty awesome. I owned a Epic Touch 4G (GSII) before the Rezound bc I switched from Sprint to Verizon and haven't looked back but I will definitely be checking this one out.
36. androiddownsouth (Posts: 598; Member since: 02 May 2012)
Love my Rezound, can't wait to check the DNA out.
15. bubbadoes (Posts: 815; Member since: 03 May 2012)
so if this is true--I'm guess my GS3 16 gig will be in the budget category after Dec 4.
18. dorianb (Posts: 591; Member since: 24 Oct 2012)
Strangely enough I think I'll wait for the Note II vs DNA article to help decide. I'm buying full retail as well.
19. Owlet (Posts: 450; Member since: 21 Feb 2011)
Why are you all bashing the name, guys? Droid DNA is running in its veins. It's Droid DNA!
42. alouden (unregistered)
And I should like it. I have studied DNA all my adult life.... :-)

I LOVE htc phones but i will not buy one unless they have a removable battery......and btw i got the black Galaxy S3 it is such a sexy phone!
28. MorePhonesThanNeeded (Posts: 645; Member since: 23 Oct 2011)
I need the specs on this thing, if that battery is smaller than the Razr HD then we have a problem, the stock HD is running a 2500mAh battery this phone needs to have that or more to compete else battery life woes will be the bane of this phone's existence. 5' full HD screen on a less than 2500mAh battery is pure suicide.

OMG I'm so annoyed with you guys.. what are you 12 all of you ??? all i hear is aaa battery battery....have you seen any tests yet ???? does anybody have a clue about what technology is being used in that screen ? could be IGZO if so then is should be revolutionary...and since when the size of battery is that important ??? there are so many things not just battery size that make a smartphone run for long periods... (ex One X with Galaxy S3 and LG Optimus 4X HD where you have 1800 compared to 2100...or something )
any way GET A F> GRIP !!! EVERYBODY and stop bitching until we see some more details.
OK EXPERTS ???
37. androiddownsouth (Posts: 598; Member since: 02 May 2012)
Most of what I read here is discussion not bitching, imo. Chill bro. There are far more important things to get worked up about lol.

Speaking for myself, I have purchased every HTC phone knowing that, while excellent phones, they are not known for battery life. I am no expert. People more knowledgeable than I have said that with the number of PPIs listed for this phone, and with what is known about battery life with the current technologies, yes it could be an issue. I cannot say they are right or wrong. Having said that, HTC's "battery life issue" hasn't seem to dissuade me or their legion of fans from buying the phones. Anyway this is guesswork, and anticipation, nothing else. We honestly do not know how the phone will perform. That's the point of all this speculation. What's the harm in that?
38. androiddownsouth (Posts: 598; Member since: 02 May 2012)
Same here man. I love HTC and they are my OEM of choice for the 2+ years I've been selling for Verizon. I'm so ready for this DNA that I'm almost drooling over it. As long as the battery isn't God awful, I'm sure I'll be able to deal with it.=)

Verizon is the biggest rip-off I have ever encountered. They never returned my $200.00 that I paid them for a phone I returned to them.
40. androiddownsouth (Posts: 598; Member since: 02 May 2012)
AT&T years ago ripped me off for far more than that so count yourself lucky it wasn't worse. They ripped me for 3x what you say Verizon did to you. Not saying it was right, but it could be worse

Can someone please get some dog-fight clips or comparissons between the DNA and the LG Optimus Blaze? And will they ever update the upcoming phone specs for this new mystery 5 inch 1080p King Smartphone? Is like to also know a definite launch date, camera specs(mp & lens), battery type, expandable memory capacity, etc. I would love to see this beast up against the Optimus Blaze and also if the Blaze or DNA are ever going to be officially announced for Verizon? You would think if they want to knock off Samsung GS3 or iPhone 5 they would get some info out early and get the whole world interested and hungry!!!!!!!! Come on guys quit holding out!
