Verizon Galaxy Nexus may not be considered a developer device any more
0. phoneArena posted on 03 Feb 2012, 15:07
Something extremely strange has just happened and we're not 100% sure exactly what it means, but it possibly could be that Google is no longer considering the Verizon Galaxy Nexus as a developer device any more...

o0o what is going on?
update: i just looked at the source and plain as day near the top it says "Galaxy Nexus is supported only in GSM/HSPA+ configuration "maguro" and only if it was originally sold with a "yakju" operating system."
note that the nexus s is also only supported in the gsm version.
and the galaxy nexus is mentioned multiple times throughout the source page. including links to factory images of the galaxy nexus.
so what is the news here?

Perhaps you missed where they said the CDMA Galaxy Nexus

Also the CDMA Xoom and Nexus S were removed, so there's more of a story here than just the headline.

Yeah, I missed it. But the source clearly explained itself by saying that no cdma devices are developer devices. Seems obvious what Google did here.

So glad I kept my DROID RAZR™; wasn't impressed with the Galaxy Nexus anyway. So what will the device be called now? Let's see: no external or removable memory and a 4.65" screen; you could go out on a stretch and say, "iPhone 5"?

Seems like every time you post you're trying to justify your RAZR purchase...

:) Nope, no need for justification here.. just very happy with my RAZR (especially when I come across articles regarding issues with the GN which I briefy [briefly] considered ')

Understandable. Interestingly enough even if this is all true the GN will still receive updates faster than your RAZR...

i think the razr is hands down one of the ugliest premium phones ever made. yeesh

i agree with that statement. Had my chance to pick up a razr today as an upgrade. Its brutally ugly.

So, if Verizon marketed the GNex as a nexus phone... developer phone and now it is not... does that leave any recourse for those that bought the phone based on it being a nexus device?

BTW the fast boot for CDMA Galaxy Nexus is the same as the GSM.
I wonder if they plan on releasing something seperate for CDMA or if only GSM will be considered developer phones which would be moronic for Android.

Google needs to grow a pair and stand up to carriers... dont want to troll.. (intencionally) but Apple does a very good job.. of keeping carrier c**P out

I usually disagree with gallitoking but I 100% agree with him on this one.

This is true. Love them or hate them, Apple won't allow any preinstalled carrier crap on their phones.
