Verizon Galaxy Nexus gets Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, courtesy of CM10

Although the factory Jelly Bean image for the GSM Samsung Galaxy Nexus was made available for download a few days ago, the Verizon Galaxy Nexus was unable to join the JB party, due to the lack of official update. But now, CyanogenMod is once again here to save the day, with a preview build of CM10 for the handset...

I've been running Jelly Bean custom ROMs on my LTE Verizon Nexus, like the 2nd day after the Jelly Bean source was leaked. Not to mention that I was running dev version prior. Sooooo... I'm not exactly sure what this article is implying.

Yes. I have had Android Jelly Bean just like you have. I have been running Android 4.1.1 since the source dropped on my Verizon Galaxy Nexus. I had it BEFORE CM10 was even made to the public.
The Android community has had many Jelly Bean ROMS out BEFORE CM10 was even released. This article implies that CM10 is the only Jelly Bean ROM out there or the first to have Jelly Bean.
We all know CM10 is not the only option out there & they were certainly not the first Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean ROM out there for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus.
"Sooooo... I'm not exactly sure what this article is implying." quote applies to me also.

I have lost a lot of my interest in cyanogen mod lately. Their roms are good but they take forever to come out, cm9 took months. And as Evo said I've had JB on my nexus for a month now.

You know, i don't really get this whole "Verizon's nexus isn't a nexus" crap. It IS a nexus though big red treats it like its just some Samsung. 2 bloatware apps, and a Verizon 4GLTE logo on the back makes it anti nexus? Not to me. Had it since Xmas. The entire time I've had it, I've been in the front of the line for android updates. I had jellybean running the day after it was announced to the world. That speaks for itself.
BTW, if you own a Galaxy Nexus and your waiting for ota updates, Somethings wrong with you. XDA & Rootzwiki for life :)

Also, CM10 is like the last to attend the jellybean party for the VZW Nexus. BAMF Paradigm, Jelly belly, and even YouJellyHuh have all been updated to 4.1.1.

I am currently running ///ASCENT\\\[V3] 4.1.1 AOSP ROM. It's based off of VanirAOSP 4.1.1 ROM. It's a sweetly blackened out ROM. It comes STOCK with Fanco's Kernel. I got my GNex overclocked to 1.8GHz.
It's insanely fast & ULTRA smooth. Also with the interactive governor I am getting GREAT battery life. I have had some great setups but this one gets me sweet battery live & impressive performance.
Go to DroidHive.com & check it out. I love the Root Community, my favorite sites are RootzWiki.com, DroidHive.com & xda-developers.com. Everything you ever need to root is right in those 3 wonderful sites.
It's true, if you own the Samsung Galaxy Nexus please do yourself a favor & ROOT. That phone is the most developer supported phone in all of history. There are countless ROMS, tweaks, kernels, & themes.

I really want to get into the whole rooting game just don't really know where to start, also just got SGSIII with a warranty and everything on contract. Would love to pick up a GNex to play around on.

People are definitely developing for the Samsung Galaxy S III. Go to RootzWiki.com or xda-developers.com & READ. Find out what phone model you have, we know it's a SGSIII but which one? Find out what model it is & read on how to unlock you bootloader & then root.
I am really emphasizing READING. Don't attempt to do anything without reading first. The after you have read it please reread it until it's verbatim.
There are also lots of video tutorials for your phone. Check YouTube & Google. The more research you do the better your results will get. I didn't have anyone teach me I just basically did the research & am now very well versed in Android, Root & ADB.
You can do it but read everything you can multiple times, watch the video tutorials & you will be an expert in no time.
