Always gotta be about football. Sometimes I wonder what life would be like without football, I'm sure I'd still be happy.

With the explosion of the NFL Mobile app, im sure the streaming and other things you can do with the app would be awesome for people in these cities since they are most likely fans. good move

It says cities, but it means markets. When I was up deploying LTE for Verizon. LTE in the SF Bay area has been LTE ready for 27 cities in just that area alone. When the mean San Francisco they mean San Jose, Oakland and everything in between. Article is a little miss leading. Even here in San Diego market it will cover a ton down here as well. I'm guessing (since I haven't been to all markets they're launching) Verizon is planning on turning on at least 150-200 cities November 15th, with another 40-50 cities within a month or two covering over 100 million americans at launch.

You need to do some research, out of all those cities/markets only Phoenix and Green Bay has no plans at the moment. Chicago was one of the 1st big markets to get it. This is still a vaporous announcement because it's just the 25 - 30 market talk again wrapped around the NFL

are u serious wimax? u must be on something if your comparing it to LTE speeds which far exceed..wimax..

Not by all that much. This LTE is far from the 100mbps standard that is actual 4G...

Actually there have been LTE lab test that clock LTE Speeds at 150+MBPS. I think that qualifies as 4g... just because carriers are not goign to release those widths at launch doesn't mean it isn't 4G, it's all about strategy. Just like the cable company VS DSL. Cables speeds can easily reach 100+ megs, but they choose not to because honoestly nothing needs to be that fast (for consumer purposes) and there isn't an opponent that can legitimately compete. In AZ I pay for Cox's "highest speed" which is 20megs up to 50 with "powerboost" ... woopie... in Europe most cable providers can do 100+megs no problem becuase there ism ore competition than here and their FCC equivalent isn't as paranoid as ours. sooo.... LTE>>>>>> Wi(mpy)MAX... and WiMAX2 is faster than normal WiMAX but the technology is 2x as big... I don't want to have a 2inch thick laptop with a built-in WM2 card inside... that is like comparing a turbo engine with 300HP and then just putting two v4s and running them together... yeah it is.

There is no hard evidence to support the better claim, just a bunch of fans sure that this super launch is going to WiMax in the dirt. LTE has better penetration because of the spectrum, won't deteriorate at traveling at high speeds and is slightly faster but those qualities are all moot if a lot of users are in the same area with the low bandwith it's saddled with.

HAHAHA... to compare wimax to LTE is like to compare KIA to BMW.

to bad LTE can be further upgraded and is restricted by verizons low spectrum..... and when wimax becomes wimax 2 it will be true 4G no wanna be 4g like all the companies have( and will have )

you mean comparing KIA to Mercedes, BMW is like the Ford of sports cars now.....anyway dahaka17 is right, wimax 2 will have a huge speed increase with more spectrum to handle the load

Uh, no..."by 2011" means before the beginning of 2011 so it's right. Are you suggesting that Verizon has had 4G all of 2010, but we didn't know it? :)
