also track record & reliability and brand name are holding them back, they aren't known for "must have" flagship devices. Great specs are one thing, but if you have a track record of delivering buggy hardware, terrible UI, slow or no updates, then specs don't count all that much. Any Chinese knockoff can put together awesome specs but it doesn't guarantee it'll be an awesome device. Technically speaking this device is awesome, but so was the 2X back in its day, yet did it deliver a compelling user experience? No, not as good as what the competition had at the time.
However, I am watching the Optimus G with anticipation because I like what I see so far, but I also remember the terrible devices LG has made in its past. I'm glad LG keep trying though. This one is shaping up to be a true flagship device. Heres hoping they get it right this time and deliver on their potential.

I also wonder if it'll be a case of history repeating, LG was first dual core release, 1st 3D phone, 1st announced quad core, and none of those devices stood out. There are many other quadcore kraits with 2GB RAM and 4.7" screens coming. LG might again get drowned out in the crowd. eg. Asus Pad Phone 2:http://www.gsmarena.com/asus_p

I had several LG phones myself and while the s class interface was great in its time its new ui and icons are very cartoon and its phones themselves while having very high tech interface have a very toy like appearance.

Kinda very true, before owning an Android device I choose between the Optimus 2x vs SE Xperia Arc. From many techbloggers point of view the Optimus 2x is the safest bet for future proofing. But during that time I know nothing about that sort of stuff so I went for what caught my eye design wise and that was the Xperia Arc. Since buying it my device got about more or less 6 software updates already if I'm not mistaken. As for the Optimus 2x that device has probably the worse 2011 Flagship software update support(?). . .

I think this also shows people value exterior/look over the actual software (Samsung has much better UI + features).

The G is a clean phone but Samsung built it's following a fans through great handsets and marketing, When you think/talk about Samsung you think of some of the best devices in various technology fields. When you think LG most people think of just TV's. Just haven't built up that customer base and trust. LG could have all the specs in the world but they aren't consistent like Samsung. Maybe this will help them close that gap if they keep producing phones of this caliber.

I agree but they are already winning alot of people over with just this phone man so specs do play a significant role doesnt it?

well said bro. actually Sammy doesn`t make the most beautiful phones but they sure make beasts. Thats why Sammy now has a fan following just like apple. Sammy is tested and tried. I was really looking for a GneX II but seems like we will only have lg neXus. this phone sounds real nice on papers but cant say anything untill the first reviews are out. LG makes very good hardware but Sammy gives you best hardware along with the best user experience. they really nail it. just like last year Sammy gonna outsell everyone in the market including ip5.

yea samsungs good at what they do no doubt i just dont know why they cant have better builds and better screens......If they can get that down then It would be a new level for them without question!

That is 57.14% for killer specs, blazing performance and better build quality, power efficient.
And 42.8% for good software optimization, better UI, replaceable battery and sd card slot, regular updates, good performance and satisfactory battery life.
I might choose LG though.
8. raunak posted on 15 Oct 2012, 03:48 1
Power efficient? sure, the processor is more power efficient but samsung optimises battery better. I highly doubt optimus G will have a better battery life than s3.
25. GALAXY-STORM posted on 15 Oct 2012, 07:59 1
Actually they do. The ips LCD screen has low power consumption combined together S4 pro built with 28nm architecture. But i may be wrong if poor software optimisation can lead to more power consumption.

LG has a chance to redeem itself if it makes a good Nexus phone. I don't doubt its hardware but it must have ample storage, like options from 16 till 64 GB. Or a micro-sd card slot (although it is impossible. For reasons unknown, Google doesn't allow expandable storage)

a very close fight!
optimus G is a good looking phone!! and LG really make an elegant phone! but i wiah it was made with premium materials.. like at least a polycarbonate shell but with matte finish!! with shock, dust and water proof body....
i think if it has that specs, it will be the beast!
9. shuaibhere posted on 15 Oct 2012, 03:51 1
I don't think many of them will go to lg if samsung has this
kind of specs in their flagship.....samsung has well established in mobile industry....so they don't need marketing but lg needs marketing....
10. wendygarett posted on 15 Oct 2012, 03:54 2
Pa readers are so blind that galaxy s3 is the real deal here... Sammy has better build quality, better screen display, and better design compare to LG...
18. SuperMaoriBro posted on 15 Oct 2012, 04:48 5
They aren't blind. The survey was flawed, all it did was list specs, so many would just be basing their decision assuming all other factors were equal.
EG, If the survey listed the higher speced device came from a company that had a history of buggy hardware while the other had a hsitory of reliable hardware, this may have changed the results.

If Lg phones were more Reliable then people would prefer them, they started off bad in Europe by releasing below par mobiles for the "3" Network,an this had been a bad Option made by LG an now people look away from buying there mobiles, also they also seem to copy Samsung phones All the Time
15. leftheodo posted on 15 Oct 2012, 04:11 1
Software is what matters. Even if you put an i7 cpu with 8gb of ram in a phone, if the software is not optimized it will lag. I love the specs of the optimus G but i would take the galaxy s 3 any day. LG must hire new software developers.
