And won't a 64 bit system consume more power???

but if we put SAMSUNG's SUPER AMOLED with lcd then screen is not a screen, then screen is a SUPER AMOLED

You're right bro, I guess it's for bragging rights. When I'm banking, texting, emailing, using a note or calculator app, or a host of other things, I can give a rats ass about pentile, AMOLED, LCD, or whatever. As long as I can clearly see it in direct sunlight, that's enough. Think about Vexi, 95% of the time, the screen will be covered in fingerprints anyway lol. Who cares man, this gets ridiculous at times. Not pointing at you smurf, just generally saying bro, people make too big of a fuss about nothing most of the time.

But see here's the thing. I appreciate my S5's AMOLED screen a hell lot more than when I had my M8. There is a night and day difference between the two, especially in the blues and blacks.

I'll make a comment on your post - it's not me being a fanboy because that's far from my goal, but there IS a difference between AMOLED and IPS/LCD3. I would have thought you would tell the difference b/w the 5S and N3... IMO, since the GS2, Samsung produces the best screens in their flagships every year.

The differences are minute to me Smurf. When I say the ur all the same to me, I know some are a little brighter, some offer text that's a little more crisp, blacker blacks, whiter whites n stuff. This is the thing though, you're a phone buff like I am. I've never owned a device past the 14-30 buyers remorse window, that didn't fit the bill. All of them performed just fine, and got the real world job done...that's my point. It's not like you can see LCD, and not AMOLED, so basically they're all the same for everyday usage.

darkk, for daily tasks I do agree with you... bcoz more or less we are performing same type of tasks on the phone daily but if we are going for a comparison, specially edge to edge then there is a whole a lot difference in Samoled and lcds... I usually keep visiting tech stores for checking purpose and I found a lot difference since S5... there are users who are keen about the screens(like me) and based their preference on that

posted on 31 Aug 2014, 17:17

93. darkkjedii (Posts: 12406; Member since: 05 Feb 2011)

Will those differences stop you from seeing the screen, sending a text, seeing in sunlight, or watching YouTube? No, they're only noticeable when you place them side by side. That's my point dude.

by this definition even 240x320 screen cannot stop us from seeing, sending text, calls, you tube etc.... then why we bother for a good screen and high resolution? why dont we leave all expensive flagships alone? and settle down for some very budgeted set and buy a lottery ticket from rest of the money? I am getting your point but that point is not making me to convince about consumer buying behavior which is largely based on high numbers

Disagree 1000% super amoled is superior to washed out lcd. I had the LG G3 for less than a week and took it back for the super amoled display goodness of the S5. The note 4 will blow everything else out of the water with not only a super amoled display but a quad HD super amoled display!!!!

Unless you have a magnifier instead of human eyes, there is NO way that your eyes can tell what pixel arrangement is used on a 1080 screen. The amoled 1080 screens are not sharp enough is a myth that was created by Sony fans and debunked by almost every other reviewer out there.

Fyi, not just display mate, but major tech sites picked the S5's screen over the other flagships screens.

"The amoled 1080 screens are not sharp enough is a myth that was created by Sony fans and debunked by almost every other reviewer out there."

No offense, but just about every human vision optics scientist will tell you subpixel layout does make a difference. The eye doesn't need to see the individual sub-pixels to notice that some object is slightly fuzzier on one screen vs. another.

Pentile AMOLED is notorious for fuzzy text when the text is dark on a light background -- which is a lot of Android apps, unfortunately. There are also a variety of cases where just simple shapes -- such as a shaded star -- will appear to have poor edge definition to the eye on a pentile AMOLED screen.

It depends on what is being drawn at the screen. Anytime you reach a certain level of sharpness in what is being drawn in comparison to the screen's native resolution, there is chance for fuzziness.

AFAIK there is no global screen smoothing functionality in Android. That would prevent some to most of the fuzziness from being visible.

'Pentile AMOLED is notorious for fuzzy text' -

Any review or information to back that up ? Coz all the reviews I saw never mentioned anything about it. Even Erica Griffin who's display test are thorough then Displaymate's didn't say anything about it.

"Any review or information to back that up"

I've posted links on PA before. I'd find the posts, but I've made too many posts :)

A simple experiment you can do with any pentile AMOLED display -- just display a screen full of black text on a light gray background, at different font sizes. You will see the fuzziness in the font outlines, more on some font sizes than others.

If you do the same experiment with equivalent high quality LCD screen, you will see much less fuzziness in the font outlines.

You'll see this sort of fuzziness with a variety of other color combos as well.

Erica griffin disputes displaymates claims of s5 amoleds color accuracy with pretty convincing evidenc... so i dont know why you mention both of them in one sentence.... :?

" Any review or information to back that up ? "

Galaxy Tab S 10.5 Display and Performance:http://youtu.be/VHDKXaIAf8E

Straight from erica griffins mouth.

I hold nothing against note or samsung or amoled, i just feel cheated getting 2/3rds of a pixel and oversaturation to cover up the fuzziness. Oversaturation is not accidentl ;)

And i have no need for a stylus. Typing, voice recording, camera, or just the finger, i can make do.

I am talking about his statement of 'notorious fuzy text' not Amoled's colour reproduction accuracy.

Anyway, some call it oversaturation and some call it vibrant. You only believe what YOU want to believe. If you think Erica Griffin, an independent youtuber with only 2 years experience and hardly enough resources to invest in high-tech display testing equipment, is believable then that's your prerogative.

Displaymate is much-much more experienced and reliable. Read about their testing method and you'll see how thorough it is. They have more then 50 awards for their testing procedure and is the most trustworthy name in tech circles.

If no one ever told you its pentile then would never notice the difference. Ever heard of placebo effect ?
