Yahoo couldn't have picked a better time to update its dedicated sports app. With the NBA Finals now down to an exciting best of three (thanks to the Big Three on Thursday), the NHL playoffs reaching the Stanley Cup Finals, the 2013 Major League Baseball season nearing the halfway mark, and NFL teams sweating training camp, sports fans have a lot to follow. Yahoo Sports 4.0 offers a simpler UI and the app is now faster and easier to read.
Formerly called Sportacular, Yahoo Sports now brings you scores, breaking news, stats and even in-game tweets from beat writers. And if you're using an Android flavored device, the app provides a widget that will keep you up to date with a glance at your home screen (just as long as you don't save the app on your microSD card).
This is the best time of the year for sports junkies, which is probably why Yahoo revamped the app now. It's a free update from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. And in this day and age of $100 tickets for a regular season baseball game, anything in the sports world that is free is very much appreciated.
