Update to Windows Phone 7 Series for the HD2 is possible, its HTC's call
The drama surrounding the speculated Windows Phone 7 Series update for the hottest of all Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphones, the HTC HD2, continues. This time, Microsoft’s Alex Reeve, Director of UK Mobile Business Group, has been questioned whether or not WM6.5 phones meeting the required specs will see updates to Windows Mobile 7 Series. And here are his thoughts on the matter:

“It's early days yet, and that's really for our hardware partners to think about.”

A man of a thousand words! But yeah, that works for us just fine. As long as Microsoft doesn’t mess with what is truly the manufacturer’s business, we are cool. So, we guess it’s HTC’s call now to release the much-desired update for the HD2, because, as we all know, it meets the Chassis 1 specs.

HTC upgraded the ROM to 1GB for a reason. March 24th = SOLD! Pre-order available = SOLD!

I don't think so. I believe that for HTC will be much smarter to release HD3 with WinMo7. At the end, they sell hardware, not software ;) Also, when WinMo7 will actually be on the market, HD2 will be overtaken by many other phones.

I doubt every point you made. HD3 will not compete with people on 2yr contracts with the HD2, only hardcore gadget junkies... and thats IF it comes out this year. HTC is in the software business with Sense. The reason why many people buy HTC phones is for Sense. HD2 has been out for 6 months and theres only one possible future phone with a 4.3" screen. So I HIGHLY doubt that there will be many phones that will beat out HD2 this holiday season.

If HTC won't do it... someone at XDA will.... so... I would still buy it if it was available for me... sigh, i want this phone. Lucky GSM people,.
