Update for Find My iPhone released before its time?

Find My iPhone is quite a useful app because even the sharpest person on the planet is going to lose track of his/her Apple iPhone every now and then; and while an update to the app includes a new icon that is inline with the iOS 7 color scheme, it apparently was sent out to iPhone users a little earlier than expected...

Would be funny though if someone, let's say, lost their iPhone and couldn't track it because the app required them to be devs and run iOS 7 before working properly, could've been the greatest trolling of 2013, and potentially the greatest expense, as Apple, and not the private insurance of every single owner, could be held responsible for that, unless its fine print says "We got nothing to do with any lost or stolen iPhone, if you don't have private insurance, you're more than welcome to buy another (i)Phone at your preferred carrier or your local Apple Store, we won't bite! Instead, we (our Geniuses and/or your Carrier employees/salesperson) will wish you luck next time!"
