On Thursday, we told you a SIM card free version of the HTC One X+ was available for pre-order from Clove in the U.K. and now we have the device available for pre-order in the U.S. from Expansys; you could always wait for the subsidized version from AT&T, especially if you want 4G LTE coverage...

yes but not a cheap one....dood......."cheap plastic" would be found on the GS3
10. devildlm1 (Posts: 71; Member since: 12 Sep 2012)
... the GS3 is polycarbonate with a glossy coat
16. XPERIA-KNIGHT (unregistered)
dude you can be "technical" about it if you want....but the S3 has "cheap plastic" sorry....

Samsung Galaxy S III, HTC One X and Nokia Lumia 900, they all are same Polycarbonate!

i understand you guys like sammy but the build on the HTC is MUCH more premium than the build on sammsungs......lets jus be real......now some may prefer that i guess but it still doesnt change the fact that HTC is more premium than sammy

You said the s3 is made of cheap plastic, which it's not. What you like is the design/shape of the one x, not the difference in material because they are the exact same thing.
23. XPERIA-KNIGHT (unregistered)
yes and noo when you take off the cover of the S3.....it is REALLY flimsy and cheap feeling.... the HTC has a much more "expensive" feeling and nice soft touch to it.....
21. PhoneArenaUser (Posts: 5498; Member since: 05 Aug 2011)
I don't try to deny that HTC One X looks better than Samsung Galaxy S III and that HTC One X feels more premium than Samsung Galaxy S III.
I just stated the fact that they both are made of the same Polycarbonate!
25. XPERIA-KNIGHT (unregistered)
yea true its all good man.... :)

Xperia-Knight, you not liking the glossy finish is a different matter. the S3 and the One X use the same kind of plastic. the build quality of HTC is overrated. let's just agree that both handle scratches and dents way better than the aluminum back of the iPhone 5 (as premium looking as it is)
28. XPERIA-KNIGHT (unregistered)
ok but if thats polycarbonate on the S3 then it must be the lowest grade of polycarbonate u can find.....sorry man but i think they can do a little better than that
34. devildlm1 (Posts: 71; Member since: 12 Sep 2012)
the only reason you might consider the s3 plastic flimsy is because you can see the thickness when taking off the back. I'm sure if the One X had a removable battery, the back would be just as thin.
I had the evo 4g and the back was slightly thicker but only because it was a cheaper plastic and if it was polycarbonate, i'm sure htc would have made it thinner.

i guess man all i can say is you wont be able to convince people in a store that the S3 doesnt have a plasticky build when compared to HTC

I whole heartedly agree to all of comments.
Where the build is concerned, yes we all know that Sammy used Polycarbonate this time round on the S3. But the point is nobody could guess that if they were not told about it! Probably because of the glossy finish, but Sammy actually made it feel like cheap plastic!!
-1 to Sammy for this one..

I agree with everything you have said except "the build quality of HTC is overrated.", in my opinion HTC One X is better build than Samsung Galaxy S III but it is just mine opinion. :)
42. jan25 (Posts: 470; Member since: 26 Feb 2012)
it is better built and i find it 10 times more appealing too. people just like to exaggerate when comparing the built quality of HTC and Samsung.

To put this whole thing simply, those that perfer the One X perfer it for its matte finish. I've tried out both phones, and I also like the matte finish of the One X better.

FYI All, if they are telling you that truly this material is Polycarbonate. Well, it is a plastic! Or a Polymer is a (Plastic) that has been (Cross Linked). Cross linking makes plastic a lot more durable in many ways.
It is a good and safe material though, look it up I don't want to tell you to not create negativism.

yeah.. i like my HTC sensation... and one reason i think to move from HTC its this cheap plastic... i hate it.. i want aluminium
13. letgomyeggroll (Posts: 138; Member since: 13 Jun 2012)
Its not aluminium, its aluminium coated or sheet wrapped over plastic. You really think that they spend that much money on aluminium or even use it? That means they have to use a bigger RF amp. And if its true aluminium, the whole phone will get hot from top to bottom and you won't able to hold it.

The HTC One X+ uses soft-touch policarbonate plastic that is "solid & has a good rugged feeling in hand", unlike the white version available in the current AT&T model says multiple blogs in YouTube hand-on

Here's a question that end to you IPhone and HTC fans. But first, I have to say I use to own an Iphone and HTC.
What can IPhone 5 and One X do that the S3 can't?????? I can mention some futures that IPhone 5 and One X can't do.
11. XPERIA-KNIGHT (unregistered)
nothing really man.......the only thing wrong with samsung is they refuse to make premium devices,.... if they would get that down packed then there is no doubt in my mind they would have the best phones in the world (as well as not use amoled anymore, my opinion)......but if im going to buy a phone that cost me 500-700 dollars then why cant i get one that has all the power and features of samsung.....BUT with the build quality and design of HTC??
jus saying man
12. PhoneArenaUser (Posts: 5498; Member since: 05 Aug 2011)
Good question! :)
I don't know if my answer will be "legit" but HTC One X+ has faster CPU and Beats Audio. Also I'm not sure if Samsung Galaxy S III camera can shot 4 continuous shots per second in one-press (not sure about that). :D
18. letgomyeggroll (Posts: 138; Member since: 13 Jun 2012)
Yes it can, I have the S3 and camera is awsome. What makes even cooler, you can do a voice command on the snapshot.
Xperia-Knight, what is premium to you? The both use the same material but different paint of coating. They are all made of plastic coating, yes even the IPhones. If you really it read, it translated to aluminium sheet warp around plastic. Just because the S3 is and feels lighter that it means its cheaper built? And for the One X to fellow the IPhone with internal battery is big problem. All smart phones should have swappable batteries or give it an option to go with a bigger one. All they use the same glass. And yes maybe the S3 will brake easier, because its obvious its a bigger screen. Oh that's right engineers never thought of that cuz its too basic for them.
Like Phonearena, most of the reviewer gives you a little details of the difference and compare what all the phones have. And of course they always favor what they use. But never gives what each phone has as their futures.
