0. phoneArena 27 May 2013, 22:44 posted on

Umeox is not exactly the most famous smartphone manufacturer in the world, but the company is working on a new Android model that could help it leave its mark on the industry; the Umeox X5 could end up as the world's thinnest smartphone that would even be thinner than the Huawei P6. Expected to be introduced on June 18th, the Huawei model is 6.18mm thin...

I don't care what anyone says. I wan't a phone with a tapering back side and at it's widest be around 0.43 inches thick. The reason why I want the extra thickness is so they can put a damn camera sensor on it greater than 1/3 inches in size. I mean the samsung galaxy S iV has a camera sensor that is 1/3.6 inches and size which was smaller than the SIII @ 1/3.2 inches.

In the HTC one, the camera would have worked much better if the sensor was slightly larger than 1/3 inches. If it would have been 1/2 inches with a slightly higher resolution capability there is no doubt in my mind that this cellphone would have a monstrosity of a camera (IMHO it is already a beast of a camera).

That phone above is just too damn skinny. It is like point 0.22 inches which is less than a fourth of an inch. Atleast HTC has gotten it right with making a phone thick where in needs to be and thin were it needs it.

I agree with you, I want a phone like you mentioned, I don't care how big is the hump or pimple on the camera like many people called it, if it's a sensor, I don't care, like on the Lumia 925.

Don't know why these chinese manufacturers love to make damn skinny phones, don't you think damn skinny phones like the phone above looks fragile?

Bigger and better camera sensor and Bigger Battery!
the phone companies have failed to introduce any new type of battery that drastically improves life so we need bigger batteries for atleast a day use.

imagine if they made it 8mm. JUST 8mm. How much extra battery they could have stuffed in.

These phones are getting too thin. They are already so thin most put a case on to give it some heft when holding it. This is getting ridiculous.

It does have some advantages. When you put a thick case for protection, it would just feel like a regular phone.

It also has the disadvantage of crappy smaller batteries.

I don't mind thin phones, as long as it has decent specs, good camera and big battery... till then, these thin china phones are useless.

These hidden chinese manufacturers make really good devices for the money. I recently picked up a Zopo Zp980 for $350, very good build quality (Hey HTC its got a metal back with a removable battery, its thinner then the HTC one and it also has a Micro sd so **** off) and it works perfectly. Was a good replacement for my Nexus 4. My only complaint is the cpu which is a little underpowered. Hopefully the Chinese manfuactoers switch to intel when it becomes more popular then these devices would be perfect.

There's no point of battling for the slimmest phone. There wont be any Noble Price Awards for that and I'm still gonna use a razor to shave my beard.

Thinnest isn't all. I've a phone with a thickness of 9.5 mm...and tbh, that's the bare minimum I prefered :L too think, I'll think it'll break off like a chocolate bar no matter what material it's made of. #Sense-of-security
