UPDATED:HTC Passion to hit Verizon in early 2010 with 3.5 OLED display?

Not exactly the Android version of the HD2 as we expected, Big Red is now expected to launch the HTC Passion early next year instead of late this year...

Really sad, With vzw going ga ga over the droid and the other android based phones what makes you think there going to still get the iphone?

14. rehnhart posted on 07 Dec 2009, 10:26

This works out good for me. I really wanted to jump aboard the Android ship and get a Eris or Droid, but my contract is not up until June 2010. So, it looks like thats a good thing and worth the wait.

get a droid!

30. rehnhart posted on 07 Dec 2009, 17:08

LOL!! Everybody says that, get a Droid. I would if it wasn't for the whole $500 cost of buying the Droid without contract. At least by waiting, I will have a third choice and possibly a better phone in the HTC Bravo/Passion.

While looking and drooling over the Omnia II for so long and now hearing that a capacitive AMOLED display is on the way...I think I just have to wait and see how it looks. If it looks like the Eris, I won't be interested, I don't like the wasted space at the bottom where the trackball is. Just me though...other wise it's a pretty nice phone. I like the display of the Droid and the Eris...I would have to agree with most folks when comparing Cap vs Res screens. The finish just looks a lot better. Although, I just seen a video from Pocketnow showing off the Sense UI on the Omnia II, still some bugs, but it looks nice even with a blurry video.

How is it that I am the "trouble maker" for wanting the iphone and for wanting it on vz but vzw fanman only posts "get the droid" "get the droid' "get the droid" Hell, he probably has a quick key set up so it is only 1 key stroke to type.

24. vzw fanman posted on 07 Dec 2009, 13:03

what makes YOU WANT an iphone?

25. rjt185 posted on 07 Dec 2009, 13:07

ROTFLMAO, you make a VERY GOOD point. My guess is that within the bounds of a VZW related post his "get the droid" would be sensible as the Droid is in VZW. While wanting the iPhone in VZW while still VZW related would pretty much be "out of place" in most articles outside those that speculate on the virtues of a VZW iPhone. From my side, it's nothing personal, I think the iPhone in VZW would be pretty damn cool, but I shy away from allowing it to be that "pipe dream" as there are plenty other models to come that can provide a similar experience without as much of a "leap." I've been a VZW customer since moving to the US. So I'm pretty fervent in my belief as slowly but surely have seen a good percetnage of my close friends and relative migrate from all kinds of carriers into VZW. ps: Plus it's always fun to have banter ... keeps things interesting.

Ha! If it makes you feel any better HAWK, I'm with you. I would enjoy very much an iPhone on the VZW network. I HATE the keyboard on the Droid, but other than that, I like the looks, usability of the Droid. I like the Eris, but think the trackball at the bottom is redundant on a touchscreen device; and if I were to get an Android powered phone, I'd want the OS 2.0, which the Eris doesn't have right now. And honestly, with the way Android is really shaping up lately, I'm interested to see where it can go by the time I get my upgrade next year. Not set on any of VZWs phones right now, enough to make me pay retail at least.

35. vzw fanman posted on 07 Dec 2009, 22:20

i love the keyboard, it's a lot better than on my old voyager.

36. YouLostTheGame posted on 08 Dec 2009, 19:41

Ha! I think all of us "regulars" on here know how in love you are with your Droid;) Keep enjoyin. I'm sure it's better than your last Voyager, but after having a virtual on my BB Storm, I'll never go back to a physicla keyboard again. I just can't help but think how much weight/bulk Moto could have shaved off w/o the physical QWERTY.

37. vzw fanman posted on 09 Dec 2009, 10:59

i had the bb storm also and i still like the droid keyboard better...

26. mthoren68 posted on 07 Dec 2009, 13:22

This sucks. So my NE2 was up last April, and I decided to wait for the Omnia II. Then the Droid was leaked (Sholes, whatever), so I was waiting for that. Then the Passion gets leaked (which seems to be exactly what I want) with an expected release of 12/9 or 1/10, and now we're looking at 4/10? One of these days I will learn to quit waiting for the "next best thing," especially when it comes to technology.

27. arty2hottie posted on 07 Dec 2009, 13:53

I hear ya. I still have the old env 2 and have been looking to upgrade for the last few months since I am eligible this month for the upgrade. It started out I was interested in the storm 2. Then I saw the droid and fell in love with that. Then the passion looked interesting, I need to stop looking at these websites and just get a phone. At this rate I will just keep waiting for the next best thing while I am stuck with my crappy env 2.

34. YouLostTheGame posted on 07 Dec 2009, 20:22

Also, I'm not positive about this, but when I checked awhile back, I thought I saw that an NE2 credit goes away after a given amount of time. You might have screwed yourself out of a free credit, wishing for the next best thing.
