George Lucas copyrighted the name 'droid!!!??? How can you copyright such a generic word as android?? If thats the case im about ready to start copyrighting every common use term I can come up with and live off of the royalties.

Lucas probably TM the name droid in like 1970-whatever when the first Star Wars movie came out... waaaaaay before a term such as "droid" could be deemed common. Besides, even the word Android is trademarked by another company, and google has been, and still is getting slapped with litigation from the company that owns the rights to the term "Android." So your comment is flawed twice, deal with it.

I dunno...take shots all you want, but iPhone is big for a reason...and the iPhone didn't have to do that by taking jabs. That being said, I am excited to see what Android will develop into.

Is Verizon really starting an entire campaign against the iPhone? Seriously? I didn't know that the iPhone was becoming so dominant...well actually I did. But with all those advertising, "The Droid" better deliver.

It isnt Oct 31, it is midnight of Oct 29 (really Oct 30). Right now, the timer reads: 12:02:27:00 (12 days, 2 hours, 27 minutes, and 0 seconds). This may seem an hour off, but on the Eastern coast it is 9:33 now.

Ninja, while your logic certainly makes sense, (and provides for a better date/time), I personally think given all the information that Nov 11th at noon is more likely

23. Sethdras posted on 18 Oct 2009, 10:16

Checked by switching my clock and it does stop counting if you switch your computer to Oct 30th, so that looks like the day, pretty psyched myself. now just pricing would be nice

vzwtechbill: see my response to gt183, and because ofhttp://www.boygeniusreport.com/2009/10/05/motorola-droid-sholes-tao-launching-october-30th/ i think the 30th is much more likely. Also, above the update was changed to sat midnight of Oct 30 (not sure if this means 29th/30th or 30th/31th though) sethdras: wonderful!

hahahah that iDont thing is actually funny. gay iphone... anyway please do not give me a negative 1 unless you respond to my comment. :-) i really hate the people who just give a -1 and not respond, man up! :-)

You are an idiot. There is no man up... you never have anything to say but blatant fanboy trash.

16. vzw fanman posted on 17 Oct 2009, 22:38

thanks bro. :-)

20. YouLostTheGame posted on 18 Oct 2009, 00:19

Neither do you lolipopjones. All your comments prove is that you've drunk the kool-aid. And fanman you know I think you're awesome, but I had to give you a minus one for the hell of it :)

I dont think "droid" is a phone, Im sure its reffering to android and a phone but not the "name" of it (obviously). I love the way Verizon is sticking it out there about the network and the iPhone people are blinded by a shiny you tube machine and they are missing the purpose..Psychologically it makes sense to be agressive in a market that sells out to "missing the whole point" to a cell phone. Agree or disagree, your choice, but VZW Fanman and VZWEMP got it right! People are coming back after the iphone...its only as popular as the Apple computer consumers and statistics are showing those are the only ones keeping it.

32. E.N. posted on 18 Oct 2009, 11:10

If people are coming back on their own, what's the point of this advertisement?

59. videobandit posted on 19 Oct 2009, 19:51

What's the poing of McDonalds advertising? What's the poing of Nike advertising? What's the poing of the iPhone advertising? The answer is the same in all cases. The poing of any advertisement is to gain revenue and attract customers.

I think I decrypted it correctly, someone can verify this though: As of around 9:47PM EST 10/14/09 the code reads 23:13:23:XX, which would put it at a release date of November 11th.

7. ninja posted on 17 Oct 2009, 20:58

see my post above: You are one off on each number. It changes at 9, not 0 (52, 51, 50, 49, 48). I had made that mistake, but I had heard that it may come out on Oct 30 yesterday, and found my error.

10. gt183 posted on 17 Oct 2009, 21:01

ahh of course. Makes perfect sense. And of course I just ordered my env Touch today!

11. ninja posted on 17 Oct 2009, 21:03

Also, if you add the minutes and hours up in your version you get 11:11AM (lol, maybe you are right). Subtracting one from each digit gives you midnight (which I believe is more likely than 11:11). I feel sorry for you about the env touch though.
