I think I will keep my old iphone.Live in small town Arkansas with no 3G.Only in the cities. So why change. Also the new 3G data plan does not include the 200 SMS.So there is another 5 bucks if you want them. This would up the data plan $15 a month if you want the same thing.I thought the iphones would be going cheap on ebay by now.Used ones selling for the same price they did a few weeks ago. This tells me a lot of people are going to stay with the old data plan. Everybody to their own!

There is not going to be a "No Commitment" price... So it is safe to assume no way to purchase freely at ATT or Apple stores. And to the first response, exactly! nothing is free! Why does everybody complain so, wahh why isnt it with verizon, wahhh wahhh wahh.?? Your right, it does suck money.... PRETTY SURE THATS WHAT THEY ARE GOING AFTER. I dont see why anybody complains so about these things.... If its so important, become a big wig exec and change it.... geez Until then just bow down to the ones with power..... oh yeah, i work for att too.

Seriously?? This isn't a marketing strategy. This is called phone subsidizing. It's nothing new. Why is there such a big freakin' stink about this? No, you probably won't be able to purchase this and walk out w/out a plan now that the price has been lowered. It will likely be the same as purchasing any other phone on a contract - you will walk out of the store with contract if you purchase this store. So all of you iPhone resellers can go cry a river, build a bridge, and get over it, as the iPhone buy-then-resell-at-double-the-cost-at-no-penalty-to-you days are likely almost over.

All I know is I dont' get why people are so upset about the price here. Consider yourselves lucky for the past year and back to reality now. ANY smart phone with a major carrier is going to cost more for data as opposed to a standard phone. WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!!

This makes Samsung Glyde and LG Voyager for VZW look real good right now! Too much tug-o-war with money here!

3G is what this phone is meant to live on. Rank n file cart boys and shelf stockers will have issues but watch out bberry markert share. I'm pissed for spending the $499 last year for a crawling device. Bottom line, this phone is not a phone, it's a kick ass portable mobile web surfing, tune jamming apple creation. Stop biotchin and go buy a razor if it's too expensive. this is the future. I'd rather line jobs pockets than gates/balmer/brin/page.

the iphone will continue to have no effect on rims market share. it will hurt winmo, but rim will continue to grow b/c their product is 100x better and deeply entrenched in the core of many of the worlds top businesses

RIM will have a good year. The iphone won't be able to touch RIM's market share (too loyal) and then they will release the Thunder. That will rip a huge chunck out of apple's market share. It's almost not even fair.

I am limited by my parents as to spending extra money on service ($50 more than my current plan- yeah, cheap ass plan) and I feel that there should be a way to get the iPhone 3G without data. It would make a lot more sense if they were just available on the same plans as other phones. The iPhone's basically a Voyager with more memory, a better touch screen (I don't really know the specs), and no key board. There's really no reason for AT&T to charge iPhone users (who are so limited as to monthly plan options) so much more than Verizon charges Voyager users. But make no mistake, we're not being ripped off by Apple. AT&T is really pissing me off and I will continue to support Apple and their products.

Honestly I hate Iphone but you cant compare the voyager to the iphone. Voyager is a phone whlie iphone is a smart phone.

There is a VERY good reason why T-Mobile has lower prices. Its not because they are a generious company and out of the kindness of their hearts giving you 'amazing' service for dirt cheap. Its because the company itself knows they have SEVERE weaknesses. What your trying to do is post sales pitches. As I shall restate from previous posts, T-Mobile THOUGH has tower agreements it has beyond poor service for a carrier with as much advertisment as it does if you dont travel and you live in an area that T-Mobile operates well in then your good but untill I become a 1 town work-a-holic who only lives and works out of her house and has everything delievered, I'll continue to live in the real world, and T-Mobile happens to not work in that world of reality.

I wouldnt even bother. Sprint and Nextel have given me nothing but headaches and Nextel in general isnt even worth the lump sums I drop into it on a regular day.

I just talked to a representative today about getting the iphone with NO contract he said that will be available and you WILL be able to get it on prepaid so there is no reason to fret.
