With Sony Ericsson planning on selling Android apps from its PlayNow store and General Mobile announcing the Storeoid for its Android phones, there seems to be an Android app store on every street corner...

I really do not see the point. Why not just enable the Marketplace to add a handset-specific tab inside that caters for your phone or manufacturer? I don't want to see more than one app management tool on my device unless I've jailbroken my iPod touch.
