UPDATED: Samsung Rogue to arrive on Sep 8 for $99 on contract?
These rumors about the side-sliding Samsung Rogue just won’t stop! Here’s what a tipster of ours that claims to have inside info told us today. The Rogue has now appeared with a “coming soon” status in the equipment guide system, meaning… well, meaning that it should come soon (hopefully)! That’s not all the interesting stuff however. Judging by a launch kit, out source says the handset is to come on September 8 with a price tag of $199 $99 with a two-year contract and after $100 mail-in rebate. Full retail price will be $419.99. In addition, it seems the Rogue will sport a 3.1-inch touch-sensitive widescreen and a full HTML browser, if the description found there should be trusted, of course.

So, that is all for now – we hope the Rogue is now close to launch time so that we could finally put its capabilities to a test.

Samsung Rogue U960 Preliminary Specificaitons

Thanks, BT24!

*Update*: It turns out there has been a mistake in our original info and the Rogue will actually be available for $99 on a two-year agreement. We apologize for the mistake.

I wonder whose tipster is right, Phone Arena's or BGR's. BGR has the price at $99 after rebates on contract. HOPING IT'S THE LATTER.

Funny how phonearena said that this phone was already in stores and its just now appearing in upcoming phones. Unsubstantiated rumors much phonearena?

This is confirmed.

they need to start making these "dump phones" with wifi. its kind of ridiculous they dont have it on phones coming out that supposibly are "high tech".

Wifi is so overrated. I've used all the PDA phones Verizon has offered with wifi since the i760, and I couldn't for the life of me notice a difference in speed between a good 3G connection and wifi. Heck, even a solid 1x connection on some older phones was just as good, the processor bottlenecked it anyway. Unless you want to circumvent data plans (with many new phones requiring a data package, that option isn't there anymore) or use the phone's data features globally, it's really not a big deal.

In my situation, i don't get very good data signal at my house, so my Pre is very nice with the Wifi radio. It's got its advantages.

Wifi is good when you're in a heavy urban area, you're hardly ever going to get a good 3G signal....

If your in a heavy urban area you probably need a gun, not wifi....

On boygeniusreport.com they are saying the Rogue will be $99 on contract, after $100 mail-in-rebate. Uh.......

We got 30 units on this phone in stock last week with our inventory shipment. :) This phone is seriously sick.....I normally dislike just about every phone Samsung releases but this unit might change my opinion on wether or not Samsung can release a decent phone for VZW *EDIT* BTW, this phone will only have a $50 mail-in rebate

9. FizzyWizzyZOw posted on 26 Aug 2009, 10:32

what do you mwan units? OH, and how much will this phone be for upgrade?

7. BigRed83 posted on 26 Aug 2009, 10:18

I will check when I get in today to see what I might be able to dig up

I wish your tipster would be able to give us some freakin' info on the Verizon Touch Pro2. Leaked pics came out almost a month ago, and still no word on release date, I mean, come on! Not to mention T-Mobile already has theirs out, and Sprint is dropping their TP2 in 13 days.

whats nice too(for me atleast) is that Verizon is going to finally require a data package for these type of devices. The Rogue is suppose to be the first device to require something!

26. PapaJay224 posted on 26 Aug 2009, 17:37

All HTML phones require Nationwide Pricing, Thats it...

29. kellybl131 posted on 26 Aug 2009, 17:56

That's not correct. That was true but when this phone releases, it and all future phones that have full HTML will require a data package either alone, or as part of your plan : aka: connect and premium. Just like it is a requirement for PDA's to have data now.

13. kellybl131 posted on 26 Aug 2009, 12:24

It's $199.99 with a $100.00 rebate. So $99.99 on a 2 year after rebate. $269.99 before rebate for a 1 year. It's been confirmed with the Verizon equipment guide. It will also require Vcast subscription, or a Connect or Premium price plan.

So, is that the upgrade price, or what is the upgrade price? Is that the wwith a new 2 year activation thing? So what im saying is, i made $130 for this phone, and im getting a upgrade, (my mom will paythe rebate) So how much is this hone after rebate, on a upgrade?

20. kellybl131 posted on 26 Aug 2009, 16:00

It will be $99.99 after the $100.00 rebate the for either a new two year contract or an eligblie two year upgrade(had the phone for 20 months of the 24 month contract). One year new activations and annual upgrades(had the phone for one year) is $169.99 after rebate.

21. FizzyWizzyZOw posted on 26 Aug 2009, 16:41

Great, thanks! So basicly, AFTEr the rebate, the phone is $99? am i right? Oh, and do you think the phone will have a virtual keyboard? I hope so. OHHH, and IF the phone comes out on Sept 8th, does that mean that they will start selling it, or just avertize, ect.?
