UPDATED: HTC Desire goes to AT&T while Sprint gets Hero2?
This article has been updated.

A BGR tipster close to HTC has some interesting info about some high powered Android devices. First up, according to the source, Google wants to sell an AT&T 3G compatible Nexus One-like device through their web site, and as it seems they have picked the HTC Desire for the purpose. Besides being offered through Google, AT&T will also sell the phone on its shelves. It is said that the Desire for AT&T will have some differences in the design department, when compared to the unit we've seen for EU. The changes won't be major though and may include the casing color, material and finish. The carrier's customers will be glad to know that the Desire runs HTC's Sense UI. BGR says to expect the phone to launch in the May/June time period.

As for Sprint, a slightly modified version of the aluminum clad HTC Legend will make its way to the pin-dropping network as the Hero2 says the tipster. Just as the original Hero and Sprint's model have some differences, that is what we can expect from the Hero2. The source hadn't seen the phone yet and also had no idea of when the unit will be released.

and Verizon gets... *chirp* *chirp*. It'd be nice if the Incredible launched soon.

It'd be nice if Verizon got a decent smartphone at all and not Motorola garbage... but then again they are Verizon. I'm personally waiting for the 4G HTC smartphone coming out for Sprint.

I think that phone (supersonic right?) will be really nice. I think the motorolas are nice, but they have a distinct design to them and mold Motorola seems to be following. Unfortunately, I am not a fan of it either. I think the HTC Incredible could be a nice device, possibly the device of the year for Verizon if it gets launched. I don't think it will get launched before this though, so probably not until the summer.

Sure hope that the Hero2 will come with 2.1 and not the 1.5 we're rocking right now.

lol ... "tipster" eh? Dude I could draw a phone on a piece of paper and send it to PhoneArena, and they would post it!

@scottmbolt ... What this article said is 100% true. WTF are you smoking?

Lets quote the above article... "This article contains unofficial information." "The source hadn't seen the phone yet and also had no idea of when the unit will be released." ... Hardly "100% official" when the first sentence states that the article is "unofficial".

I agree with scottmbolt on this one... you can't always believe everything you read. Half the phones they talk about coming out with on this site never show or show as a completely different phone (conveniently). But that is kinda why i go to this site, to see the rumor mill. i do know for a fact though, from what i've seen in recent years on this site and others, that companies like to pre-release info to create buzz. I mean, it is a bit obvious that all of the major carriers will have SOME version of Android devices coming out soon.

Man! A fella dreams big and gets his wish! I was hoping for the Bravo, and it gets renamed Desire and is coming to AT&T! I know it ain't the best network, but I feel a lot better sticking with them since I do work for them. And now I won't have to feel guilty feeding the enemy beast with every cell bill payment. And they lowered my ridiculous voice plan rates if only to force me into a smartphone data plan so it balances out, but at least the mony is being better allocated in my mind since nobody in my 4 phone family plan talks on the phone a lot. Ever since she discovered texting, my wife doesn't talk to her girlfriends that much, they just share texts. Only problem is it's getting worse, and a couple times, she went over her 200 text limit. None of us thought we'd ever exceed that. I held out just long enough because I was about to use my upgrade on a TP2 or go to T.Mobile (I like all the cool phones and I know they have the "best network", but I don't have a couple hundred $ to just throw at Big Red for 4 lines. Plus T.Mobile is the Android leader in the clubhouse and their coverage is just fine where I've been and plan to go in the near and not-to-distant future). More bang for my buck is what I want and I just got a pretty big krak-a-toa! Bravo! AT&T, Bravo! (pun intended) And with the upgrades I KNOW we're doing, the network jokes won't last much longer. I don't know about the rural areas, but here in S/E Michigan, lots of stuff happining.

I have the desire to GET HTC DESIRE FOR MY AT&T network. Any idea on the price? Cause I'm due for a upgrade on MAY 15th. When this comes out I'll GET!!
