U.S Department of Justice approves Microsoft/Nokia deal

It looks like Microsoft isn't going to have too difficult a time in getting through its massive purchase of Nokia's mobile devices and services business. The boards each voted through the $7.2 billion acquisition, and now the governmental review process is moving along quite well. Just a couple days ago, the U.S. Department of Justice approved the deal "unconditionally"...

As Microsoft has already announced it will move a portion of it's brass to the current HQ in Finland to as opposed to bringing their brass here, I am very hopeful that MS will allow the Nokia engineers and developers to continue to do what they are good at: Develop hardware that is on par to any in the world, and develop for WP specifically.
After the purchase of Skype, MS allowed them to still function as a seperate entitiy, but under the umbrella of a company owned by MS. Hopefully, we see the Nokia division work the same, just more close to WP and Windows software development.

This is a great model. Just let them do what they know how to do and not reinvent the wheel.... you might break it.

Never ever will Nokia come back! With WP, it will go nowhere: "stagnate" .
Majority of consumers prefer an "open source"
Apple is successful, cause of it's embelem, not cause of the device.
Nokia does not stance this.
So no it won't get stronger, but will "fail" yet again like it did with WindowsMobile and WP7......

I really gonna miss Nokia. Does no one in Finland have the power to stop this deal?

username, go find a brain...
WP8 is rapidly gaining in popularlity, and virtually all of the major apps are available for this platform now. Also, you don't get the horrid malware that plague Android users, and WP8 offers more flexibility and value when compared to iOS.

the most important part when the deal closed in 2014: both teams going to work together on ONE update and ONE release date, unlike now we have to wait for Microsoft to finish their update development then we have to wait again for nokia to finish with their update development then we will get the update -.-

ya but its going to take a while before they organize them selves as one team

I don't doubt that this merge will bring great new devices from MS and Nokia.
My biggest fear is what will Microsoft do with the patent portfolio that they are acquiring? Apple and Microsoft have it out hard for Google.
Google's purchase of Motorola is blocked from Google being able to use the patents to fight off or use against competitors. But the recent Apple and Microsoft purchased patent portfolio's are not blocked from being used against Google.
( No I am not biased. I have an iPad, Android Tablet, and a Surface. All are great quality and work great in different areas.)
