Typical U.K. Android user is a boring non-gamer

0. phoneArena posted on 18 Feb 2013, 06:04

According to information released from Nielsen, the same firm that tells you how many people are watching The Big Bang Theory each week in the U.S, the average Android user in the U.K. is a non-gamer who wold rather check their bank balance on their smartphone instead of playing a game like Words With Friends...

Banking and shopping...instead of games...interesting.

eBay mobile.....interesting.....

I wonder how this survey would look for US users.

and using remote desktop while connected to a docking station, using the smart phone to what it was designed to do in the first place, productivity :-)

4. jroc74 posted on 18 Feb 2013, 06:26

This reminds me...I think I still have some remote desktop apps I havent installed on my current phone. Need to see how they work with my phone. I did just put a file manager back on that handled connecting to my PC by wifi good. Needed to move some files back n forth.

Its funny...some ppl say X phone or Y phone is a toy, B phone is for business, productivity. Any smartphone can be for one or both. All depends on how you use your phone...

And I have used Android since 2010.

Android for matured person...
iOS for kids!! lol

12. techspace posted on 18 Feb 2013, 08:12 3 6

no, apple products are used even by the scientists, college students, employees, kids etc etc.......actually, age is just a number, any person in the world, irrespective of his age or profession, may like an android device or an ios device or any other device.......even the twins have different choices

Agreed, and I've also found that the iOS is for simple-minded, closed-minded/one-way thinking people. Androids are for the articulate, the brainiacs, and those who can think for themselves.

Bring on the reds =D

Sooo you call a person who would rather check his financial records on his smartphone instead of playing the hottest new mobile is boring person ? Stereotypes indeed

6. jroc74 posted on 18 Feb 2013, 06:30

I must be foring....a mix of fun and boring. I have all my banking apps on my phone, use them all, I used to use eTrade, I have specific file managers for specific reasons. I havent shopped from my phone yet. I need to be at a PC for online shopping unless I already know what I'm getting.

I also have all the Angry Bird versions, HR Battle 3D, racing games, GTA..many other games I cant even remember right now...lol.

no, it means Android = a useful tool for life
iPhone (iToys) = just for fun, just an iConboard, iToy, not for any serious work or a tool for life ;)

If you ask me, i'd say that most all the Apps mentioned above have social aspects which leads to the start of fun... And that the survey was probably more interested in "Spying", on where and what people are doing and saying on their phone... "Big Brother" "illumi-nutty" :)

So in other words British Android users use their smartphone as a smartphone instead of a Gameboy.

10. scriptwriter posted on 18 Feb 2013, 07:02

i strongly disagree with these findings. i easerly have more gaming apps on my phone than non gaming apps. I try to limit the amouint of shopping i do on my phone. As for the list of the mostly used apps, most of them, if not all, are stock apps anyway that come with the phone and CAN NOT BE REMOVED!!!! How bout doing the survey again but excluding stock apps?

So Phone Arena, because they use their phones for actual productivity, they are boring. So what do you call people who do not use their phones for productivity?

13. ilia1986 posted on 18 Feb 2013, 08:18 5

I'd much rather be a "boring" non gamer (even though I have more than 30 games on my SGS3) than a socially-addicted moronic, swag-cultured, stupid, whiny, jersey-shore watching justin-bieber loving redneck teenage american who uses an iPhone, thank you very very much.

That's exactly why (even not being in UK) I complain and flame about preinstalled junk on HTCs. I simply disabled Facebook and discovered that the useless Teeter game is treated as a system app in HTCs (obviously, it is waay too important).

18. pkiran1996 posted on 18 Feb 2013, 09:56 1

A sanple size of 1500 from one region of the UK is not representitive of the majority of Android users in the UK. My college has 2000 students!

19. gwuhua1984 posted on 18 Feb 2013, 10:36 2

I use my phone to watch movies... VLC controller to steam movies from my computer to tv...

I must be pretty boring since I don't really play games...

20. Paradox posted on 18 Feb 2013, 11:58 1

I live in the UK and don't play many games on my phone (nexus 4 ;) ), mainly because they are usually boring. I prefer to play real games on my PC...

23. Klamba92 posted on 18 Feb 2013, 15:44 1

I agree I have some games on my phone and tablet but that's mainly for on the go,like train journeys. I would much rather game on my console or PC!

21. bigstrudel posted on 18 Feb 2013, 12:14 1

Im the same way as the brits I guess. My phone is a tool and when I have a few spare moments I prefer to use them for something constructive rather than play games on the least immersive experience possible.

24. rusticguy posted on 18 Feb 2013, 19:22 1

Intelligent users ... playing games on device .. for that you hav e iPhone :D

25. Reluctant_Human posted on 18 Feb 2013, 22:21

@most of these posts - nowadays most android users are as bad as most iphone users. A preference over a technology or phone doesn't make you smarter or more of an individual. An idiot will still be an idiot no matter what he's holding.
