Two new Xiaomi handsets gain certification
Xiaomi has, without question, been the busiest in the mobile hardware space just lately. Having only recently launched the Snapdragon 821-powered Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus, the firm this week rolled out two more humdingers with the Mi Note 2 and Mi MIX. Now, two variations of a new Xiaomi device have checked through China's version of the FCC but this time, the specs are at the lower end of the spectrum.
After four Snapdragon 821 handsets in the best part of a month, it's perhaps a bit of a relief to see Xiaomi cool things down with something a little more homely. The devices are referenced as the Xiaomi 2016111 and Xiaomi 2016112, with the only apparent difference being that the former includes support for a microSD card of up to 128 GB.
The 4G LTE device includes infrared, Bluetooth, USB, GPS, a 3030 mAh battery, a rear fingerprint scanner and an in-built FM Radio. On the software front, it looks like Android 6.0.1 will be the base of the experience, though users can expect Xiaomi's MIUI to be very much at the forefront.
Both are equipped with 5-inch, 720 x 1280 TFT displays, an unspecified 1.4 GHz, quad-core processor and 2 GB of RAM. There's 16 GB of ROM, though as mentioned, the 2016111 is expandable. There's also a 13-megapixel camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel shooter at the front.
The device's dimensions are 139.9 x 70.4 x 8.5 mm, and it weighs in at 140 grams. Set to be available in gold and silver color options, there's no word on the cost or launch details as yet. Given that it's nearly identical to the new Huawei Enjoy 6 on the specs front, it'll probably be priced similarly, so below the $200 mark.
