Tweet says high end Nokia Lumia model coming to Verizon
0. phoneArena posted on 18 Jan 2013, 19:15
A tweet from Tom Warren, who covers Microsoft for The Verge sent out a very mysterious message on Friday, hinting that Verizon will soon be getting a high-end Nokia Lumia model soon; currently, the HTC Windows Phone 8X is the top-shelf Windows Phone 8 model offered by Big Red while the Nokia Lumia 822 in its lineup is a mid-ranger...

Hopefully Verizon will not destroy the look of the phone with its silly branding.

There will be a V logo on every phone VZW sells. It is the price of admission.

AT&T has a 6-month exclusive on the 920, so who knows if that means no 922. I'm hoping for a T-Mobile 920 (910?)

Cant we get love for both RIM and WP/Nokia?
I did say if I ever got tired of Android I would go WP....but I forgot about RIM. Even tho it wont have the hardware choices of WP....I need my phones to work as phones first. And to me thats Motorola, Nokia and RIM.
So for me it wont be much of choice for WP. It would be Nokia or nothing.
8. TROLL posted on 18 Jan 2013, 20:57 3 20
This is not true, Verizon customers are not eagerly waiting nor have intrest on Nokia WP8, T-mobile and Sprint does not want this! Even in Europe 4 out of 3 carriers are refusing to sell this phone due to imitation of iOs and Android. Look what has happened to WP7 sales were in decline, so what big difference would WP8 be....? Few incremental update! Even in Uak only 2 carriers are stocking this copycat phone, surely it speaks for itself!

How is WP a copycat of ios and android? If you believe that than you also have to believe that android and ios copy each other as well.
The truth is all competitors copy each other to something extent. If their competitor offers something that consumers want, you can bet that they'll offer something similar to get a piece of the pie. One company offers anti-lock brakes, so will the competition. One company offers a TV with 1080p, their competition will follow suit. If a there is demand for a product, there will be similar products offered by other companies.
The more platforms and companies involved in any industry, the better it is for consumers. It gives them choice, the opportunity to find something tailored to their needs. And if one company sells something substandard, it gives them another option. I don't root for any company to get ran out of business, unless their business practices harm the consumer and they don't try to do better. Who's to say that one of these companies that some people are rooting to go under wont come up with something truly revolutionary in the future. Look at webOS, if they could have caught on who's to say they wouldn't be right up there with android and ios. Bit with them gone that's just one less avenue for for innovation to occur.

I'm a big Android fan...and I agree with you...
I dont see WP being a copy of Android and iOS. WP UI is too unique. What some ppl forget is Win Mo was out before Android was even thought of.....many features of Android were already used by MS. How is WP a copy of Android? Its using features that were there in Win Mo.
What I will say tho is WP is a mix of iOS/iPhone and the old Win Mo for storage. I feel WP shoulda went all the way in 1 direction, not this hybrid mix they are doing.

I would be disappointed in a 920. Its been long enough to not just release a phone that's already been out. Even though it works for apple. This phone is not good enough to rely on for a year. I would hope for something with specs up to par with current high end handsets.
26. UrbanPhantom posted on 19 Jan 2013, 01:32 3 3
Another stupid comment from somebody that knows absolutely nothing about smartphones. The Lumia 920 is high end in every way, and equal to the very best mobile technology that exists. The processor is only dual core, but that's a good thing since it saves power. Android needs quad core and more RAM because the actual OS code is sloppy and a resource hog...
15. tkvdog posted on 18 Jan 2013, 22:08 0 0
5 inch ver of the 920+w quad core 2gb ram etc!!then yes ill hang and see i am ready for a upgreade its going to be what i just stated or gs4/gnote2 so hurry up,lol
16. cripton805 posted on 18 Jan 2013, 22:12 2 3
This would contradict all of the nonsense the Nokia fanboys talking trash about the quad cores.
24. tashreef posted on 19 Jan 2013, 00:50 1 3
And what will you do with a Quad-core processor in L920.....
ohh..i am sure you mean to say ..L920+W quad-core+2GB RAM+Android JB?
then for sure L920 need a Quad-core processor.........
41. cripton805 posted on 19 Jan 2013, 11:09 0 1
See what I mean ^^^^
This dummy doesnt know that Android began with Single cores and Jelly Bean is run on some dual core phones. Maybe even single cores if they are rooted.
51. chaoticrazor posted on 20 Jan 2013, 09:08 1 0
run and running smoothly are 2 differant things, and then if your stupid enough to claim jelly bean can run smoothly on a single core then why are half of android phones left with outdated versions?
and no rooted is not a solution its a work around that not all people want to do as they want everything they need out the box ...not have to jump through hoops just to get what they need
22. Droid_X_Doug posted on 18 Jan 2013, 23:42 0 0
That is probably the model number for the phone that features Nokia's implementation of HDR video recording, just numbered the L1020. :-)

I am very excited for Big Red customers and for Nokia. This will be either the Lumia 922 or Lumia 1022 device variants. Rumoured to be a 12mp or 16 mp still with dual core capabilities and improved functionality than its predecessor. I also concur with a number of sentiments regarding more competition in the industry meanss better options for consumers.

Anyone have any info on how well (or badly) the Lumia 822 is selling on Verizon?
34. TROLL posted on 19 Jan 2013, 08:29 0 3
They still have dozens left, due to fragmentation, also GsmArena gave this phone 6.2 and daily interests are 3%. L920 is way much better, why settle for midrange when the best will do!
36. tashreef posted on 19 Jan 2013, 08:48 0 0
and the way much better device will cost you extra $200 in off contract .....
38. Whateverman posted on 19 Jan 2013, 09:25 0 0
I think it was a big mistake for Nokia to release the 822 frits on VZW. The fact is, Nokia hasn't had a real presence at VZW in many, many years. And the few Nokia's they had were just rebranded Pantech feature phones that in all honesty were sub par devices.
If Nokia wanted to make its presence felt in VZW, they should have intro'd the 920 there a few weeks after AT&T. Exclusivity is horrible for OEM's and the quicker they learn that, the better their flagship devices will sell. So instead of riding the wave of success from the 900 or 920, Nokia now has to reinvent themselves all over again for VZW customers the same way they did for AT&T customers. Which is going to be a serious uphill battle, but I think they can do it.

I have noticed that nokia had only one smart phones with a high def screen and that is it's
Flagship smart phones the Nokia lamia 920. it is interesting to note that the nokia lamia
820 had all the Electronics of the Lamia 920 except it did not have a high def 4.3 inch screen and the Nokia pure vue camera. all the 820 needed to be in the high tech smart phone class was the 4.3 inch high def screen. the HYC 8X has 4.3 high def screen so Nokia can buy them and put then on the 820 and that would take it from a mid range smart phones to a high end smart phone and if they added a Pure vue camera to it wow that would do the trick. If the Verizon Nokia 822 is not selling well it's because it not high tech enough to cause people to want to go on a 2 year contact to buy! People want bang for the buck it is easier for them to sign a contract for a high end smart than a Mid level smart phone like a Nokia 820
