Tweet from Samsung reveals 1.5GHz Qualcomm dual-core processor on T-Mobile's version of Galaxy S II

0. phoneArena 13 Sep 2011, 20:31 posted on

A tweet from @GalaxySsupport confirms that the T-Mobile version of the Samsung Galaxy S II will not be getting the 1.2GHz dual-core Exynos chip; instead, because of compatibility issues with the modem on the handset, a Qualcomm dual-core 1.5GHz processor will be onboard...

The Qualcomm APQ8060 dual-core 1.5GHz processor is in the new htc jetstream. Go see why this chip still sucks compared to a exynos. Even tegra 2 can still beat it.

Qualcomm's dual core chips is no compitition in terms of performence until they move in the 28nm chips.

What a shame, it's using the same damn Adreno 220 they've been putting in HTC phones for over a year. May as well get a MyTouch 4G Slide at this point. Screw you Qualcomm for never innovating, just recycling the same tech for years, you are like the Tai Yong Medical of SoC manufacturers. I'll just wait for the Nexus Prime.

Too bad you cant get your facts straight. The Adreno 220 is only found in the dual core snapdragon. The first phone with this was the HTC sensation and that barely came out in june. The Adreno 205 was the gpu they been using for the past year.

Well, it's a POS compared to the Mali-400 regardless. Qualcomm should just stick to their military contracts and making satellite phones.

im here.. and good or bad.. well, ive had a fun night at the bar... so.. ya know what.. f**kit..

i... i really HATE the fact that the tmobile version is exynos free. I know im not the only one that has been DROOOLING over this phone for quite some time, only to be given a half arsed version of it.. sCREw it. period. Give me the exynos monster Ive been dreaming of....... or dont give me anything at all. I have half a mind to transfer to VZW so i dont have to worry about a half jacked version.

man, i love google auto correct.. lol. you dont want to see the mess Im actually typing.. haha.

Qualcomm sucks. Period. If i wanted walmart quality, id get a frikkin thunderbolt or sensation. Ive been holding out for the king of specs... the exynos equipped SGS2.. just to get robbed by my own boss qho prefers 42mbs braging rights over pure processor speed... UGH!!

You're right, what does matter is that even the iPhone 5 will be running yesterday's specs with an app-launcher-come-OS.

Once again, troll harder. (:

Not only is that not true, Justin Bieber's albums outsell Between The Buried And Me's. Does that make him a better musician?

On topic: Damn, that sucks. Guess that means Rogers is getting the Qualcomm as well, as it's said to be clocked at 1.5 GHz.

ACTUALLY the Android phones outsold the iPhone back in late 2010. It then passed Blackberry to be the most used phone OS. Sorry bro, iPhone can't keep up, and will be dated when it gets released.

Then again, it works GREAT for the elderly.

For your info google A5 Processor and see the benchmarks against any of the competitors. A5 rumor to be in the iPhone 5. And by the way, I own a Moto Atrix. (and an iPad-iPad 2) and Galaxy Tab 10.1

The A5 is a decent chip. It actually has some chops.. if iOS5 uses them or not is a different question all together.

Excuse me for being a bit tech illiterate because I never followed the processing power of phones...but isn't a 1.5 better than a 1.2?

There is more too it then that. The 1.2 is faster because its based on a a9 cortex while this 1.5 isn't. But thats more then you prob want to know :O.

You are correct. A lot of the folks in here loves everything that Samsung's processors do, and are not willing to see past anything else. The Qualcomm processor is excellent as well. it's just a different vendor.
