saying "first" is about as cheesy as my screen name... if you avoid saying it, you'll avoid being in this position...

Well the news about the Bionic is great to hear, Verizon. But there doesn't seem to be any "exciting" news about dropping unlimited data packages!! So f**k us, Verizon? And you wont even compromise with reduced plan pricing...such arrogance in this marketplace. 12 years, 20+ handsets & the loyalty retention offers I called about are complete jokes. The whole "best network" hustle is out of gas.

I'm hoping it hits before August 23rd because that's how long I have before I have to return my Charge to Costco for the 90 days!

It would be best to let the Verizon sales associates know. As they continue to tell me that there will be no bionic.

I doubt Verizon reps are following Motorola's tweets to find out what's coming and not coming. It's not hard to see why one would say that, when for a while, it looked that way.

Most (not all) are not as passionate as we are about phones. I've asked our store's reps questions about many of the rumors (tiered data plans, bionic, etc) and most they had never heard before.

A rep can only tell a customer what has been confirmed and released. They would never talk about rumors, or TBA information. You have to agree to not disclose any information regarding trainings and proprietary information.

Yea right bro, be real.

How do you think these news sites aquire those screen shots of inventory screens and trainings?

reps who know and actually care about not losing their job won't say anything. I've been asked multiple times about things in blogs and news that haven't been officially announced by vzw, and I play aloof to the fact I know whats going on because I'd rather keep my job. Fact - 80% of people who take screen shots and share with media or blogs are terminated shortly after, as it is easily traceable.

exactly! before every training or unreleased info thats given to us, we have to agree to a disclosure...

get a job in the cellular industry and then you'll know why we "don't know anything" about rumors/changes/phones

You do realize that sales reps aren't allowed to tell you a phone is coming out until it has been announced by the company they work for right?

I have dumbphone and a new every 2 update burning a whole in my pocket and I think I'm waiting for the Bionic or something else. Right now nothing is to exciting to me.

The original pictures of the Targa looked sweet, but now the Targa just looks like the Bionic looked before they canceled it. I'm starting to loose my excitement about the Bionic if it has that same boring look. Here is the original pictures that got me excited in the first place:http://www.phonearena.com/news/Motorola-DROID-X-2-DROID-3-and-Targa-to-come-after-the-BIONIC_id17437

On a separate note, have any of you guys heard anything about Big Red getting rid of its unlimited data plan? I found this link:http://images.dailytech.com/nimage/20587_large_verizon-data-plans-1.jpg

and this link:http://images.dailytech.com/nimage/20588_large_verizon-data-plans-2.jpg

Don't know how legit it is. I called VZ and asked, they didn't confirm or deny, but said that I would be warned before it happened if it did.

Yeah, after I called, I started to read conflicting info so I went to VZ's site and chatted with a rep there this is how it went.

Mpower: I don't currently have a smartphone or data plan. I am concerned about rumors of VZ dumping their unlimited data plan for $30. If I get the unlimited plan before it goes away, will it work on a 4G phone, even if it was purchased for a non4G phone?

Ashley J: Yes it will.

Mpower: So if my friend has a 3G phone with unlimited data now, when he gets a 4G phone will he still be unlimited at 4G speeds?

Ashley J: Yes if the 4G 29.99 data plan is still offered.

Mpower: So its not grandfathered in. It can go away?

Ashley J: Yes if you have to activate another phone. It will be grandfathered in if you keep that plan with that phone.

Ashley J: Each phone will have it's own data plan. That will be a feature of the phone.

Mpower: So unlike in the past, when you switch phones your plan stays the same, now going forward if you switch phones you plan changes.

Ashley J: So if you change the phone then you will have to change the plan. However now you can get a 4G phone with the 29.99 data .

Ashley J: The data plan will always change according to the phone and what plan it will require.

Mpower: So if I want to lock in unlimited 4G data for life, I would need to buy a 4G phone before the changes?

Mpower: oh

Ashley J: yes.

Mpower: so even if I get a 4G phone now with unlimited, if I get a different 4G 2 years from now, I will loose my unlimited?

Ashley J: Yes if the unlimited is not offered at the time.

Mpower: Will VZ warn me before they get ride of the unlimited plan?

Ashley J: Yes you will be informed. Would you like a link to sign up for email alerts?

Mpower: This seems to contradict....

Ashley J: *phone.

Mpower: plan=phone?

Ashley J: However if you change the plan and that data option is not offered then you will have to pick a new plan.

Mpower: oh, this is a change from the way things were done in the past and currently right?

Ashley J: That is how they are done now also.

Mpower: Let me recap my understanding from what you have said, and you can respond, True or False...lol

Ashley J: K

Mpower: Data/voice plans are only good as long as I have the particular phone that I started the plan with but can be continued on the following phone if the plan is still available for that new phone. If the plan is no longer available, I will be starting a new plan with every phone purchase. True or False?

Ashley J: True

So pretty much if you want to keep that unlimited the plan you would pretty much have to pay the FULL price of the phone unlocked cant get the contract deals anymore.. which sucks but the unlimited is worth it for sure 2gb for 30 bucks is pretty F***ed up but..

yea that does suck paying full price for the phone now... just to keep the unlimited data ugh... i want the galaxy s2 : X and i hope 2gb is enough

I want to wait but I am afraid the my 3g data plan will not grandfather me into the 4g non tiered plan. I might have to buy a lte phone before July 7 just to get the plan. Anyone with any advise?

I think this means your current plan will carry over just fine.

I think your fears are correct. When I go on to verizonwireless.com to add a 4G phone, it is telling me my plan needs to change to go from 3G to 4G. I'm getting a 4G on July 6th, and just hoping the Bionic comes out during the trial period.

If you upgrade from a smartphone to a new smartphone, your unlimited data will stay the same. Unfortunately for those who have been waiting with old phones or feature phones, when *you* finally upgrade from that phone, you won't have the same option and will have to choose from the new tiered plans. Sorry! I kinda thought it was neat that there were still some people who were patiently waiting for a smartphone that kept their attention longer than five minutes, but I guess that it was actually working in the other's favor because for the people who seem to switch in and out of a smartphone every week, you are locked into your current data plan and you get to carry on with your bored-of-my-brand-new-smartphone-already syndrome.
