Truecaller, one of the few hugely successful dialer apps, just announced a massive update to its services. Today, version 8.0 of the app was unveiled from the venue of the company's first annual "Stay Ahead" event in India.

The Truemessenger app, which used to be a standalone product, will be completely integrated in Truecaller 8.0. This way, you won't need a separate install on your phone to identify unknown SMS and block spam or adverts. Flash messaging support is also added, allowing users to send pre-defined messages with information such as location, emojis and more.

Apart from in-house updates, Truecaller also announced a bunch of important new partnerships. In the coming months, Google Duo integration will roll out to Android and iOS devices. The service will be permission-based, and those who opt-in will be able to quickly video-chat with their contacts through a small Duo icon without having to leave the app.

The two other corporate tie-ups are exclusive for India – a new payment service called Truecaller Pay is set to premiere thanks to a partnership with ICICI Bank, while Airtel Truecaller ID is said to bring Caller ID identification to Airtel feature phone users, even to those that don't use internet. This paid service will deliver the identify of unknown numbers via Flash SMS before the call hits the user’s mobile phone.
