I don't get it. They can't even fulfill customer demand at their stores. How will this help? I guess it would just be another store to call for availability.

The iPad 2 being sold at a toy store. How fitting.

Great news for parents Apple is looking to capture your kids at even a younger age and make sure they demand an 'upgrade' each year despite the cost and minimal difference.

This is good news in my opinion. In the next month or so Apple will be fulfilling much of their back orders. This will give them an opportunity to reach another untapped consumer base (the gaming community). I don’t necessarily consider the ipad a gaming device. I think it is packaged as much more. Quick run down...
1. Colleges, ipad can be considered an educational tool.
2. Toy Store, ipad can be considered a gaming device.
3. Electronic Stores, Ipad can be considered a multi-media entertainment unit.
4. Online Retailers, Ipad is a social exploratory machine for all generations.
5. News Agencies, Ipads keep the world connected to the latest announcements
The above can be said about other tablets as well. I'm not entirely bias =)
And for everyone saying that apple forces its consumers to upgrade every year is just a BS statement. Every year Intel comes out with a stronger processor or a PC that has more storage space and memory. That doesn’t mean that people are forced to upgrade. Televisions come out with better-and-better models. Do you upgrade?
The 1st generation ipad is still a great device! Don’t be made because next year your Android device will just be an expensive paper weight when the new Android device comes out while My ipad will still hold some residual value.

The only reason apple products don't depreciate in value is because
Apple creates a false premium tag in the first place and doesn't allow much variance in the price even when the product is almost obsolete as its hungry for profits off fanboys. This creates a false price reading for second hand good also and is fueled by easily susceptible idrones who will not question this and easily pay high price for second hand old products.
Apple doesn't force people to upgrade per say but doesn fool idrones each year through mental marketing techniques and pr about how 'big' the changes are in the new product and this changes everything again including the antenna. The apple ceo and such crying over seeing a relative in the ad for iphone 4 facetime and how you all 'need' it suckered in the masses, despite phones for 80 bucks have video calling since 2004 being one such example
Claims of android pads being paper weights are unfounded as some are indeed thinner and lighter than the ipad with much faster and higher spec, camera of much higher caliber and an os producer which adds much enhancements on a regular basis.

As of today ipad is the thinnest device on the market. I'm not sure when Samsung Galaxy 2 hits the shelves.
Also, Its a fact that most consumers dont give a crap about slightly better hardware specs. Your Android device can shot lasers and they wont sell any better.... With that being said. I am not saying Android is a bad OS. I actually like them. I am just saying that they need more tweaking, better marketing, and lower price tags to be more than just a competitor to IOS.
I keep reading that Android is going to get 50% shares of consumers by 2012. That’s great but the market is flooded with Android devices all the while IOS only have 1 device in each category. A little unfair to compare in market shares…. No?

Yeah it's being belittled as a toy. Not what the business world would like. This is what I mean by Apple being absent on the business world. We all truly know what the target for Apple's customer base is. It's not the business world. That is where Android will capitalize & finally win the tablet market, just as they won the mobile phone marked. Android is the world’s #1 mobile phone OS & it's a matter of time before it's the #1 table OS. I think this is a bad move on Apple's part!
