I dont think its when you touch the left corner, I think its when you activate an iPhone on At&t that dropps calls. I never seen such a competetive phone company and desired phone fall so hard...No wonder why Verizon doesnt get the iPhone, it cant even stand up to its own hype.

Why all the -1's? I'm not a fan either, it was just a little sarcasm! Won't happen again. (Typing with fingers crossed)

LOL @ iPhone fail. In all seriousness though, they need to start making better internal antennas, or Motorola is going to start tearing up the phone market... Oh wait: they ALREADY ARE!! @Droid X, Droid, etc. XD

Motorola is old school. Apple better not try to upstage the "grandmaster" of cellphones. Moto was making cellphones when Apple was in pampers. (for the naysayers: Motorola founded in 1928 and Apple founded in 1976 and first cell phone in 1983 built by Motorola) Motorola even made computer parts for early Apple computers. Apple...BOW to your Sensei! HAHA!

Quote of the year my friend. Seriously, "oh how dare you not make a crappy 2.8 inch resistant touch screen phone with no features! Don't you know?? We invented touch screens! We own the rights to touch screens, phone apps, and multimedia! We are sueing you!"

This makes the HTC evos grounding issue seem like nothing. Even though the evo the has SOME units with separating screen issues it doesn't affect the screen responsiveness and don't have to worry about waterspots and if they might fade... a 10 minute trip to any Sprint store will fix and reseal the screen. With the antenna issues the software fix can say you have signal but the truth is that as far as it goes for the actual antenna it might require a full hardware configuration to place the antenna in a spot where its not going to be easily obstructed... Also too bad they didn't include a kickstand like on my evo 4g.

Doesn't apple test there products before they sell them? I'm pretty disappointed in apple.

Right? Like, we heard all this hype about them finding the test phone, so you'd think they were actually testing it. Hm, I'm disappointed too. I'm glad I decided to wait for the white one so now I don't have to buy one till I hear them actually doing something about it.

I feel really bad for all the people that will continue to defend the new iphone in light of all these issues. The most "revolutionary" and "best smartphone out there" can not even make a simple phone call. You would really think apple would have done extensive testing to avoid yellow spots and dropped calls when you touch the corner of the phone. Its come to the point where even if you're a fan boy, there is just no excuse- If you are purchasing a $200 phone that cannot complete a call, you are just a poor consumer and are only trying to ride a trend

Even Steve Jobs sucked it up in front of people in the Key Note speech with the phone browsing issues, that should have been the first sign of problems to come. Poor investors, I bet their pissed.

You really think its possible that these phones were shipped so fast from the factory at the screen assembly station that the residue didn't dry? Were they assembled yesterday or something? I design assembly equipment and there is no way they would ever let us box up a device before the glue had dried or it had been tested/inspected. RIDICULOUS. If apple is really boxing and shipping these units for immediate purchase with residue still wet and leaking without testing to make sure it dissolved or dried, someone needs to be fired

all these companies are rushing their phones to market before they have been tested properly, also everything is made in china, these people are known for making junk.

Doesnt apple run the phones thru live tests???? Everyone knows (and expects) phones to have software bugs but cmon. Do they test the phones in a Lab with a robot arm holding the phones??? I dont get it, we can talk all day about phones coming out with crappy software but a phone need to make calls (or keeps calls from dropping) first. I dont hate apple (at least they ARE an american company doing well), and i would give the phone a try if it wasnt for AT&T. They should just go back to an external antenna to get the best possible reception. Apple fans will still buy the dorn thing whether the antenna is external or not. Didnt they buy they 1st Iphone when it couldnt do pix messaging?? Cmon Stevey, go old school and put the antenna sticking out and brag about how it gets the best reception ever for an iphone. You'll sell a ton. Im being a little sarcastic but i still think this is bad publicity for apple, and AT&T as a backbone cant really help much. Just my 2 cents.

So in the beginning of your post, you say you love your iphone 4 and then later on say youre dissapointed!? Well which is it? People keep forgetting that the phone was just released.. There were bound to be bugs although the these issues are a little more severe i must admit.. Almost every device seems to have a problem or two in the beginning just like video game consoles.. I remember playstation 2's with the disc read errors and Xbox 360's had issues on launch day.. Its the same concept.. And that is a reason why i NEVER buy anything tech related on launch day.. Everyone should know that.. Wait til the smoke clears and the bugs are fixed is the logical thing to do.. But people dont do that because everyone has to have the best of the best on day one..

GSM tech does not allow the use of more than one cell at a time. You are hitting only 1 ATT tower and then when you get closer to another ATT tower it jumps from one to the other and looks for the same cell on the new tower. If the cell your call is on is already in use on the new tower, your call is dropped when the old tower hands off to the new tower. Another GSM scenario is PN Offsets where the tower that has the cell you are connected to is under heavy traffic and the tower could simply decide that you are too far away to make your call worthwhile.Your call quality is not as good as the other calls being made nearer to the tower, and it is under heavy load so it is programmed to drop your call and the most expendable. you can: 1. switch from ATT to Verizon or Sprint which uses CDMA and does not have either of these specific issues [it has its own issues] 2. wait for ATT to roll out 3.9G

I received an HTC ARIA and notice I have 2-3 bars of signal at home, compared to 0-1. Great phone and great alternative to IPHONE 4 - even unlocked/cid unlocked/rooted it and now can sideload apps - best phone I have ever own - besides my unlocked TILT.....

It's not the phone but instead a glitch in the new ios4. I have a 3GS that now does the same thing since I updated it to the new version. I have a gel case around it so I didn't notice the issue till I took it off. I'm not dropping calls or seeing the phone search for service but instead the bars will drop to 1 and hold. The second I take my hand off the corner the signal goes back to normal. I'm sure the an update will be out here shortly to fix it. All phones have software glitches including the Evo, Droids, BB's and anything else thats coming out in the near future. All of us can sit here and pick apart each of our favorite phones or carrier but they are still going to sell a ton of phones and people will still camp out for anything Apple puts out.

The problem is that this is not an issue that can be fixed by a software update. How can they fix the lack of signal to an antenna from a software update? That's right, they can't. You would need a hardware upgrade. Apple may release an update that says it will fix the issue, but all it will do is show you what you want to see, not what is really there. That's what Apple does, release crap that looks flashy, and that's why people buy it.

Originally, I was completely with Apple. The iPhone was cool when it was a new competitor, and the OS and UI were new. Now, every update to the OS is minor and brings about more bugs and crashes than actual worthwhile improvements. Now that Apple has gone from underdog to muah-ha-ha, I've kinda lost interest. But android is really something else. My Droid is fast, efficient, and UN-BUGGY. Just my honest opinion.
