Toshiba halting the production of phones in Japan?
It looks like Toshiba won't branding their phones as made in Japan in the near future. Hard times during this worldwide economic crisis is causing the Japanese manufacturer to stop its production of mobile phones in Japan. Instead they will move it to China and outsource its production of other phones over there. The move is an attempt to cut costs due to low demand and falling sales of mobile phones in Japan. Currently, sales have fallen thirty percent while garnering an operating loss of around 10 billion yen. Although they are the sixth largest mobile phone manufacturer in Japan, its market share is only seven percent while their global ranking is much lower. Hopefully the up and coming Toshiba TG01 might boost sales and bring back some life during tough times.
