1200x800 is not last era, guys. It is only that it pales in comparison with exceptions like the Transformer Infinity, iPad Retina or Nexus 10. But those are only three tablets out of dozens, so 800p stays industry standart.

Every brand seems to have one Full HD tablet lately, even Acer:
Acer Iconia Tab A700
But I agree that they still are the exceptions and not the norm.

And I may be wrong, but I think that tablet has been in Europe for a looooong time already.
