Tom Hanks' typewriter app reaps success, climbs to the top of Apple's App Store charts
Just a few days ago, we told you that one of the more popular Hollywood aces, Tom Hanks, has been involved into the development of a... typewriter app for iOS. Dubbed Hanx Writer, it allows users to almost feel the joy of typing with a real typewriter right at their fingertips. The Hanx Writer is flaunting the appropriate in-app sounds, animations, and a number of other bells and whistles that aim to emulate the typing experience on such a vintage machine and make it as close to the real deal as possible. Chik-chik-cha-ding!

While no one can say if the app's success is due to its own merits or to Tom Hanks' name (we would wager that it's the latter), there is no doubt that Hanx Writer has been accepted more than well from the iOS public. In fact, the app has soared to the very top of Apple's App Store - according to AppAnnie, Hanx Writer is the most downloaded iPad app on iTunes at the moment. Its current rating is north of 4.5 stars, based on more than 2100 user ratings.

Tom Hanks' typewriter app is available for free and you can only get it on your iPad at the moment and we are doubtful that it will eventually make the transition to the iPhone. If you want to take a sneak peek into the vintage world of typewriters, then don't hesitate to give Hanx Writer a try. Oh, and it comes with auto-correct capabilities, so tit could be well combining best of both worlds.
