Thousands line up across Indonesia as people try to grab the Nokia C3

Sure it'd be almost unfathomable to see US consumers line up for a Nokia branded device seeing that the manufacturer still doesn't have that notoriety as it does in other parts of the world. However, the recent launch of the Nokia C3 in Indonesia was accompanied with a mass hysteria atmosphere as thousands of people across the country lined up at the chance of purchasing the handset. Now this didn't happen on its as because there were special events held across 10 cities throughout the country over the weekend where the handset was receiving a special promotional price before it landed officially in stores starting on Sunday. We'd imagine that an appealing looking QWERTY based handset that follows in the same footsteps as the Nokia E71 & E72 would definitely garner special attention – especially when a promotional introductory price accompanies it. Although Indonesians are the first to experience the new Nokia C3, it won't be too long now before other countries get it – Nokia can surely get some buzz if it holds these special events in other countries as well.

lol, I totally agree with you... C3!? COME ON, even N8 is more a persuasive device to have this "fake" line-up!

well you have to remember that Indonesia is a 3rd world country for the most part so Iphone and highend smartphone isnt marketable in such markets.

this is fake LOL for this nokia c3 phone?? because i will be dang surprised if people line up like this for NOKIA phone i wonder how nokia is doing now a days with all these android phones out there.... or maybe it's just USA that nokia is not doing well i can understand if this line was for that new iphone 4 (even though i'm not a fan of iphones... i'm a fan of android phones woot!!!!)

Clearly, none of you know just how popular Nokia is in the rest of the world. They are not popular in the U.S. only. Everywhere else, Nokia is NUMBER ONE in O.S. and overall handsets. I wish one of you guys would at least do your homework.

Nokia has less than 10% of its cellular phone share in the U.S. and no longer sell devices in Japan.

Symbian is still used on handsets in Japan. And who cares if Nokia has less than 10% of the U.S. cellular market? They have OVER 40% of the WORLD-WIDE market!

nokia is famous in asia.especially here in the philippines....but i prefer sony ericsson over nokia because i don't think that nokia is putting a lot of thought in making a phone..they just keep on releasing phones regularly even though they are not that amazing.
