Thin Motorola DROID HD leaks sitting next to a DROID BIONIC
0. phoneArena posted on 17 Aug 2011, 07:19
What could be the next flagship Android from Shaumburg is named Motorola DROID HD, and seems very thin, with a large 4.5" display, 8MP camera and the usual set of ports, including HDMI-out...

Well the Motorola Droid Bionic seems like the fat basterd brother of this new sexy Motorola Droid HD. I still would take the Bionic over the new Droid HD because when you are anorexicly thin chances are there is no LTE 4G. To me it's 4G or nothing. 3G is too slow, I just can't go back. Call me spoiled. It would be like me going back to a Mini Cooper from a Ferrari Enzo. You just can't do that! lol

it HAS LTE. Look at the photo showing the Li-Po battery.. you can clearly see a LTE sim card.
Ugh.. this really throws a wrench into my phone plans!! I had been set on the Bionic, but I'm not sure anymore!
After handling a phone with a 4.5" screen, I'm drooling at the chance to get a phone with a screen of that size.
lets hope this comes out sooner, rather than later!!

Thank you, I now don't need to reply to LTE.

it says "Battery Removal" right next to the battery in the Droid HD. well that resolves that dispute..

Hey you are right, I didn't notice that. It looks weird though! Thanks for pointing that out.

The question will be... Will that thin battery last as long as the bionic.

This will be renamed the Google Droid HD.

Has anyone else been having trouble with the image viewer after they changed it?

this is what the Droid X2 should've been...
i don't know if i like Moto's new look for capacitive buttons but i do like how they disappear when the power is off like on the Droid Incredible 2.

Did anyone notice that there are no capacitive buttons on the HD? Does that mean this is an Ice Cream Sandwich phone?...mmm sounds good.

But in the side by side pics....I dont see any capacitive buttons. It could be ICS phone. I thought that too when I first saw the pics.
Someone at another also reminded the buttons might light up when the screen is turned on. The ibuttons look ICS-like to me tho.

Still looks like too much bezel to be a next gen phone.

Someone at another site also pointed out on the HD, there is a Sim looking icon thats not activated on the right side....where 3G and 4G would be.
Its possible it could be an LTE phone.

The SIM icon could just mean it's a world phone also.. not necessarily LTE, would love that though!
By examining the pics, I just can't see this phone having a 4.5" screen. The 3rd photo with the phones side by side have the screens measuring the exact same width. Looks like 4.3 to me! Or... if there are no capacitive buttons and the 4.5" measurement comes from the real estate taken by the buttons, that will be a disappointment. I was hoping for the traditional 4.5" usable screen.. this one would be narrow.
Still looks like a great phone!

Capacitive buttons can(and most of the time do) completely ruin a phone for me. I can't stand them, the only thing I would like to be "touch responsive" is the screen. It's like the physical/dedicated camera buttons, they are very handy and it annoys me that we are seeing less and less of them. A simple camera.apk mod solves that but still I shouldn't have to do that.
Samsung/HTC(my 2 favorite phone guys) needs to listen up because this is what I think would be the perfect all around phone:
1) LTE
2) a minimum of 1gb ram
3) Tegra 2/3(when it comes out) GPU
4) capacitive touch screen(resistive sucks ass)
5) physical buttons(capacitive sucks ass)
6) Super Amoled HD display(SA+ looks beautiful and if they made an HD or even a qHD version we would be in business)
7) 1600mah battery(minimum)
8) A good camera/lens/dual LED flash. Something like the N8/iphone(i'm not a fanboy but the camera on the iphone is pretty damned good considering it's a 5mp)
9) A f**kING NOTIFICATION LED! Why wouldn't you add one?! Too many phones are missing them.
10) Power/Lock button on the side, NOT the top. I own a Droid Charge and I find the side button to be WAAAAAAAY easier to reach and much more convenient then the top lock buttons that so many phones seem to have
11) 16gb internal storage & a 16gb micro SDHC
12) Unlocked bootloader
13) Kickstand
14) Gorilla Glass
15) Very loud & high quality speakers
16) Not neccesary but a front facing camera would be nice
17) and finally, good support from Sammy/HTC. That means GB/ICS & their latest skin(TW4 and Sense 3.5)
Most people say $300 for a 2 year contract phone is too much but I would gladly pay $400 for a phone with these features.
