"There's iPhone and then there's everything else," says Apple in response to Samsung Galaxy S 4 unveiling
0. phoneArena 16 Mar 2013, 19:48 posted on
With the Samsung Galaxy S 4 catching 99.99% of the buzz in the last two days, Apple is fighting back with a post on its website explaining why you should buy an Apple iPhone 5 instead of the Samsung Galaxy S 4; expanding on the "it just works" thought, Apple says that owners of its iconic smartphone say that it does so many things, so easily...

Exactly..iPhone only has retina display because their screen is too small for it to be HD

This is the lowest I've seen Apple, like ever. Even with all the lawsuits and ridiculous patent claims. This is low, and sad. To think they were setting the trend a few years ago, now they are just lying to themselves.

They are just covering up in advance for the crap- that they are soon going to release... :)

IPhone is a nice device but I would never see myself with one. This is a good chance for Apple to capitalize though since many people are disappointed with galaxy s4 design wise... Samsung should have went with a square design.. 4 corners for the galaxy s4...would have probably looked more elegant.

People were disappointed with the galaxy S3 but look how many they sold

Sell it with brutal advertisements and award themselves with many disappointed users. Yeah that's good.

Agree, I hated the s3 design and now I have one (in black because the white was really a big no no for me). Having it in the hand plus the software experience changed my mind, and the same will happen with a lot of people that didn't liked the s4, plus the s4 is, in my opinion, better looking

exactly now the GS4 will have a two month head start over the iPhone 5s which still looks the same plain boring phone
4. clevername (Posts: 1435; Member since: 11 Jul 2008)
Well, there's iPhone, and the galaxy s series, and then there's everything else.
not that they are the best, but they are the most well known and hyped.
I don't see how this is gonna do much about the public eye being on samsung. If everyone is looking at the galaxy, who is looking at apples page?
" man this galaxy is so awesome I think I'll ditch my iPhone! Well lemme look at apple.com to see if apple has something new."
no that's not how it works. Did apple fire the marketing guys?
9. christianqwerty (Posts: 464; Member since: 05 May 2011)
Well they are doing something right if you are reading about what apple did on their website......
18. clevername (Posts: 1435; Member since: 11 Jul 2008)
Because its reported on a cell phone site I frequent. Us geeks are a minority in the consumer space, most people wouldn't have news feeds for sites like this, and therefore wouldn't see it. So fact remains that I'm reading about what they did, I'm not visiting their site to see it.

Actually, there's Android, then there's everything else.
5. tahnik (Posts: 153; Member since: 17 Jul 2011)
Despite of everything Apple had to response anyway...See Apple how big the android becoming?
134. therealestmc (Posts: 129; Member since: 23 Jul 2012)
Let me correct you, How big Samsung has become, not android. Samsung is the only company making money. It does even refer to android in its presentation anymore. That's how much Sammy is distancing itself the OS.
6. christianqwerty (Posts: 464; Member since: 05 May 2011)
Everyone is always mad at apple for adding incremental changes to the iPhone, and how they all start to look alike. Its funny now because thats what samsung seems to be doing. The Galaxy s3 looks like: Galaxy note 2, Galaxy s4, Galaxy s3 mini, Galaxy Grand, Galaxy Note 8.0, Galaxy Axiom, Galaxy Express..........

That's what I've been screaming Christian. I was planning to make the jump to the HTC One but now that it's not coming to Verizon, who knows... I refuse to settle for a device... I'll stick with my Verizon Galaxy Nexus and bitch about how every device has some quam that it shouldn't!... That's why Apple should be worried about the “X" phone. With it, if rumors are true, we can order a device exactly how we want... not having to settle for what the OEMs think we want!

There was iphone then the company got bankrupt due to the death in innovation and the founder and their employees fighting each other and their their new ceo asking for forgiveness for their incompatibility in public, then a company named Samsung took over the lime light then since apple had nothing to innovate they started criticizing and now apple is only known as a fruit.
8. joey_sfb (Posts: 4347; Member since: 29 Mar 2012)
Apple is really the modern day equivalent to Scrooge McDuck. No willing to go big on advertising to get back on Samsung/Android.
I really like Samsung they are a big spender in hiring sales promoter having road show and big names in their Advers.
11. 3SM.. (unregistered)
Yeah, the iPhone is so simple which makes it a very boring device.
46. xperiaDROID (banned) (Posts: 5629; Member since: 08 Mar 2013)
The most boring thing to happen to iPhone since iPhone.
163. InspectorGadget80 (Posts: 7035; Member since: 26 Mar 2011)
you can't even connect a Iphone too a TV with wifi and yet u have too plug it in with a A/V CABLE and nots not even a HD PHONE
12. lyndon420 (Posts: 2967; Member since: 11 Jul 2012)
There's the iphone, and everything else is a "smart" phone.
15. Mohtastic (Posts: 19; Member since: 24 May 2011)
When theyre scared, they become defensive. Oh apple, NEXT!
16. suneeboy (Posts: 201; Member since: 02 Oct 2012)
From the perspective of every company its "their product" and then "everything else". You can't tout features that are now standard on others' products. You say the product "just works"...how does it "just work"? What makes an iPhone different? iOS?
It is a good marketing ploy for those who don't research before they purchase though. I'd like to see someone go the Geico route. 99% comedy, 1% product in their marketing campaign. Because talking about features is pointless...they all have the same features! It's all about preference.

Except the iPhone can only run one app on its screen at a time, whereas the S4 like the Note II and do real multitasking and much more. Not to mention the iPhone's screen resolution is too low to watch HD videos and the S4 can show you HD+ videos. Come on guys comparing these phones is pointless when there is a few years difference in technology.
97. someones4 (Posts: 622; Member since: 16 Sep 2012)
does the s4 actually support multiwindows? can't find any reference about it.
116. alouden (Posts: 334; Member since: 18 Oct 2011)
I wondered about that too. On the videos I have seen, I see the multi-window tab to the left on the screen, but it has not been discussed during reviews(except for on one site). That seems to suggest that multi-window won't be available when the phone is released. I DO NOT know if that is indeed the case, it's just surprising that it has not been mentioned at all. I wonder if this is going to be the same annoying thing as last year when the Note 2 was released without multi-windows initially.

"Only iPhone has this and that."
It should be "Still the iPhone has only this and that."
26. 9thWonderful (Posts: 232; Member since: 24 Jan 2013)
that's a pretty bold statement there Apple...
Desperate? i don't think Apple is desperate at all b/c they don't have to be. the Android crowd still can't grasp why Apple is still relevant but the sooner you realize that most ppl don't care about all the intricate/anal features that Android fans thrive on then it will make sense. the only thing that keeps me on iPhone is their music player capability. the music player user interface is the best out there. also the way my music auto-syncs between all my other devices (iPad/MacBook) is seamless. Samsung's mp3 UI looks cool but doesn't exactly have the best function. Same to be said for HTC, Moto, Blackberry & LG (which LG doesn't count as a real smart phone manufacturer, they just copy whatever Samsung does). Had an S3 before & it really came down to the mp3 capability that i was unsatisfied with Android which is 90% of what i use my phone for (i'm a serious music junkie). everything else about the phone was pretty decent tho. I understand that Play Music works pretty well as far as syncing but again, it just comes down to the stock mp3 players that i don't care much for which keeps me away from Android.
52. SGSatlantis (Posts: 207; Member since: 20 Jul 2011)
Sorry but this is the definition of desperate.
123. Whateverman (Posts: 3237; Member since: 17 May 2009)
There are TONS of music players available in the play store that would suit your needs. Like 3(cubed), WikiTunes, n7 player, and sorry Google's Play Music has a much better UI then Apple right now. The lack of cover flow is a big mistake that they should have corrected looooong ago. Anyway, if that's the only thing stopping you from getting an Android device, there are hundreds of fixes for it. Just have a look in the Play Store when you get a chance, there's bound to be something you'll like.
27. YaBoiDre10 (Posts: 84; Member since: 15 Nov 2012)
Why do you see people with bifocals in wheels chairs using the iPhone? Because that's who they're made for.
28. rickywinataa (Posts: 262; Member since: 05 Apr 2012)
well, i really don't care for some small awards, samsung won both the phone and smartphone company of the year in mwc, probably the biggest mobile gadget awards.
i don't hate apple but " "Because Apple makes both the hardware and the software" hardware ? seriously ? they still depend on LG and sharp to make their display. apple is just the QC, it's LG and sharp's engineers that create the display.
whenever you have a tin can that is empty, it makes loud sound, that is apple right now
31. Android4u (Posts: 456; Member since: 16 Aug 2012)
Damn...apple must feel the pressure to go and post something like this lol....sorry Snapple
32. mh1087 (Posts: 2; Member since: 14 Mar 2013)
I've owned an Iphone since day one and honestly Im waiting for another phone to wow me b4 I jump off apples band wagon. The software im bored with it. Yes they made an improvement in specs but honestly I believe if apple doesn't make major changes in the next release many iphone fans will realize they are being cut short. Pretty much if apple doesn't make any changes soon I see them heading in the same direction as RIM.
33. minteke (Posts: 30; Member since: 27 Jul 2012)
With their unbelievably arrogant impudence I am not surprised their stocks go down.
34. _PHug_ (Posts: 421; Member since: 11 Oct 2011)
LOL @ Apple
Maybe 5 years ago or so, whenever the original iPhone hit but now... iPhone is a joke.
The only people still buying iPhones are the Apple loyalist & the people trapped by all the apps they don't want to lose/re-buy.
I swear if Apple & Android had a way to use each others apps natively the iPhone would lose 50% of it's market.
37. _PHug_ (Posts: 421; Member since: 11 Oct 2011)
Funny how Nokia, Blackberry, HTC and Sony flagship announcements all failed to elicit this response from Apple.
Hmmm, I wonder what that means...
39. YaBoiDre10 (Posts: 84; Member since: 15 Nov 2012)
LMAO..........Never thought about it like that. And these trolls saying Sam-dung is done haha yea right
44. Aeires (unregistered)
Interesting point. Seems like they talk about Samsung more than their own iPhone.
89. poping (unregistered)
Apple execs are up to date on the latest Android news. They must have been viewing it on an Android tablet. Perhaps on a Note 8.0 with multi-windows.
53. someones4 (Posts: 622; Member since: 16 Sep 2012)
a very good observation. at least Apple knows competition when they see one. As good as the devices of other manufacturers, they still can't compete with Samsung's market share and revenue for now.
70. fanboy1974 (Posts: 1322; Member since: 12 Nov 2011)
Excellent point!!! The HTC One is a very good phone compared to the S4 but Samsung has the marketing muscle to out sale it. That alone is making Apple very nervous.
But what gets me so upset is that we all know what Apple should do; just release a 4" iPhone in the Fall and a 5" model in Spring. The one size fits all phone model does not work and Samsung knows this.

Smells of desperation and insecurity. This isn't how successful companies should act and represent themselves.

Come one these type of things from apple only old people can fall for it bcz they dont know about tech.. Believe i work for verizon !!!

There the iphone..opps...I mean a totally out dated phone and then there is everything else...way better phones! LOL

This time I am hoping Samsung fail!
Is time lesson a company that never care on design by re-use same design over and over again.
This year is the year for HTC and Sony.
164. InspectorGadget80 (Posts: 7035; Member since: 26 Mar 2011)
HTC not exactly. I think SONY may not have a chance against SAMSUNG and yet it's EVEN BETTER AT APPLE. i have FAITH in SONY if they play their cards right this year they will behind SAMSUNG
50. Sniggly (Posts: 7285; Member since: 05 Dec 2009)
I said it on the Google Plus page and I'll say it here: Apple is the master of bulls**t propaganda.
There was not a single point they posted on that page that couldn't be refuted by any of the top Android devices out there.
It is nice to see Apple so worried though. ;)
