Nexus 4 wasn't included in the lineup because it's not a part of the Google edition phones. It IS the Google phone :)

Wonder if the Motorola X will take over from Nexus - Motorola building the future (Nexus) series of X phones while manufacturers provide Google Editions for those who want them

Having the hardware you want along with fast updates its a great thing, but I need to see it working before we keep increasing the number of devices and thus the amount of work Google has to pull in order to update them all

The problem is that Google should sell those phones worldwide, if they want to compete with Microsoft. Microsoft has a long term strategy. WP is gaining market share, slowly, but... Microsoft has time. And Microsoft sells everywhere. It's incredible that in Italy, for example, where Android is more appreciated than in the US itself, Google does not even sell Nexus devices. And the same holds for other european countries. I understand that they are focusing on the US market because there they are facing a big competition with Apple, but they cannot ignore Europe, which is one of the markets where they are most successful. Otherwise, in the long term, people will turn to Microsoft, as we all know that the current system where OS updates are subordinated to the manufacturer will has worked well until now, but the market is changing: swift competition requires always up to date devices and Google must be able to guarantee that. Phones are like computers, and users are used to update the OS whenever they want, not only when the OEM wants to.

You are wrong!

Here is what we already know:

1. CEO of Motorola Mobility Dennis Woodside have already confirmed that there will be such device.

2. Device will be made in the USA (Fort Worth, Texas).

3. Officially device will be named the Moto X.

4. Device will be broadly distributed.

5. Device is planned to go up against the iPhone and the Samsung Galaxy.

6. It will follow Google's Nexus strategy with high-quality, low-cost devices.

7. It will have OLED display.

8. Device will know when it is in a pocket, device will know when it is in your hand, device will know when you want to take a picture, device will know when you are in the car and potentially offer different interactions based on your situation. in other words device will be very "contextually aware".

9. Phones will be far more durable than they are now.

10. Big capacity baterry (~ 3300 mAh).

11. Phone will be released between now and October.

12. Phone or maybe just its prototype is already manufactured and usable.

There's been nothing but rumors regarding the iPhone 5S. And the Galaxy Note 3. And the Optimus G2. And the HTC T6 phablet. And yet you pick on Motorola why?

Oh, that's right. Because you're an Apple fanboy/Motorola hater. The end.

Will we still be able to enjoy main features from Galaxy S4/Xperia Z/Htc One!? I haven't seen/touched any Nexus devices before.

I believe most of the Samsung Novelty-ware is gone. The One has Beats still with some caveat. No idea on the Z.

I would love to see a US edition of the Asus Padfone, Maybe even a Google Edition. I believe it would be a product that many would like because of its usability.
