I've been doing the cell phone sales thing for a while now, and I really didn't notice much difference in reception, even in fringe areas, when we made the switch away from external/extendable antennas.

that's because those antennas are for show. Like placebos ;). It makes customers feel better to raise an antenna up, making them thing their reception is better and they won't get brain cancer.

I think some of these phones will be bought by spies only instead of ordinary consumers. Not even in the movies uses that's kinda weird.
