Symbian started in 1999 as a non-touchscreen platform. Since then *a lot* of additions have been made to the essentially 13 year old code base. Over time things get messy, new features become more difficult and slower to implement than competitors newly designed OSes. This is why Symbian was put on the back-burner: Not because it was incapable but because implementing new functionality took a huge amount of time, allowing the gap between Symbian and Android (for example) to grow. That being said, long live Symbian.

R.I.P. Symbian. You were the best OS back in the day when I bought my first phone. I hope you are going for a good reason and something better than you comes to replace you.

i wish nokia will release the greatest, the best and the beast symbian for one last time!

4.3" screen size (standard for me... bigger than 4.5 is a phablet! smaller than 3.5 is a mp3 player)

a dual core 1.5ghz (i dont think quad core will be good) or even intel's 2ghz single core processor. if symbian still cant run dual core

1/2GB RAM

the monstrous pureview with OIS

polycaronate body but still has a removable battery...

and with 4G + LTE support!

at least let symbian exit with a glorious phone!

even though 808 pureview is a legacy... at least release a phone like this for the last time!

Damn my beloved Symbian, still one of the best mobile os's out there.
I still use my N8 beside my N9. Symbian and Meego why they have to kill these mighty os's.....i feel sad! Meego will rise agian with Jolla, i hope Symbian someday to.
What people might say but Symbian and Meego are kings in multitasking and i mean true multitasking. They also did not need the best hardware to run, Symbian is so finetuned that it can run just fine on older hardware......i will never forget the Symbian legends. My N8 will have a nice spot in a while, i am also looking for a 808.

Don't worry guys. Nothing is final just as goodbyes are not forever. Symbian may be discontinued but I know there are people in Nokia who are loyal to Symbian. One way or another, they will come up with something to bring it back to life.

increased piracy of premium apps and games by ..fanclub is big factor of symbian end so loyal customers stop piracy buy licensed apps and games this might encourage nokia to furthermore develop platform and give us more quality updates..
