This is sad. I had 8 Symbian phones out of the dozen phones I owned. I just hope Nokia won't come to a point where they will also release their one last phone.

May I know why the 701 has been discontinued while the other devices such as the n8 or 603 are not? Is it true that it was suffering from low ringtone volume?

maybe you're wrong.. the one that is discontinued is 603 and 701 is still available...

from where are you?

Wherever I ask, they say they've stopped production. I'm hesitant to buy 701 because of this fact.

Oh and I've had the opportunity to own all the three major OSes, but I've found something lacking in them, be it either software or hardware. Nokia 701 seemed like an amazing phone, both in terms of hardware and software. I know it lacks a lot of apps compared to others but It has all the essential apps I need. Too bad about its questionable future.

yes... 701 is an awesome phone even though its only a mid range phone!

they stop production but it is still available but im pretty sure it is still covered by the 12 months of warranty!

but if i were you.. i'll go for 808 pureview.. it is be the greatest symbian ever..

superb camera...suberb screen...and running latest symbian...

That's way out of my price bracket. Besides I like the the compact size of the 701. Not to mention its superb build quality.

im really crying right now because of sadness... i love symbian even though people keep on saying that its is outdated! but have they forgotten that symbian is still one of the world's most capable OS?!

can do multitasking! better than iPhone's... and the battery life is better than android!

and symbian dont need the latest of the latest specs and hardware to do all this stuff... 808 pureview is a legacy!! owning one is an honor! it only runs at 1.3 GHz that is basde at ARMv11 very outdated but still it matches iPhone 5 in terms of browsing speed!!! saw this on youtube..just type "808 pureview vs iPhone 5" then you'll see a fight with browser speed!

and symbian dont need lots of RAM too!!! but on todays standard they call symbian outdated because of its lack of apps and support from nokia even though it can still match the latest of the latest software of android and iOS...

i hope nokia will release a last symbian...even though 808 is a great device but atleast release a symbian phone with LTE if its ok.. and with pureview also!!

symbian is called outdated coz it dont have all the apps... screw that!! yes it dont have extreme 3D games but still my love for symbian will be there forever!!!

the reason why i love blackberry the most now its because they continue the support to their own software...while nokia, they didnt!! they jump to a ship and leave what they have!

meego would be a good choice if they could just allow it to run android apps like blackberry do to their new OS!

they could rework symbian before!! if they just listen to symbian foundation to use UIQ instead of s60..none of this will happen!

remember that nokia air that leak? its like MeeGo, Symbian with QT! its really wonderful! but what did they do? trashed it!!!

Nokia shouldn't ditch Symbian. Symbian still has its loyal customers.

i don't mind if they put Symbian on their low-end phones (sub $150 phones, Symbian OS is better than S40/S30 OS), as long as we still have access to new Symbian phones...

totally agree with you!! and besides symbian dont need dual core or quad core to run smoothly!!!

it match iPhone 5 which is a dual core in browser test! and battery life of symbian is superb even running a lot of application..i also saw a n8 running almost 20 apps but still it didnt die!

yes... they should really put symbian on low end market instead of these s40!!! i mean what's the point of s40 having 1GHz processor if it dont even do multitasking? games are hilarious....

while symbian, you can run games like asphalt 6, an extreme 3D game!!!

i mean symbian/nokia belle just have 1ghz processor like these new asha.... and most of the symbian phone only has 256RAM but still can play extreme games! so why not put it on low end!!!

i really hate elop for not supporting symbian! i mean even though nokia dont promote 808 pureview and other symbian phone now and they heavily promoted lumia line, symbian still outsold them q2 2012! this just show that symbian has a lot of loyal fans than WP that want to attract fans...

Symbian would've made an AWESOME Android Skin then they could've called Symbian UI for Nokia Android

All good things have to end one day or another, but Symbian in my opinion was/is a perfect OS for Mobile phones. I wish Nokia had realized that future rests on Flashy UI and made changes to S60. Anyways my love with symbian still continues, thats why I am not giving up on my Nokia E63 :) #RIP Symbian

I don't understand why Symbian did not get the same success as Android.Basically they are the same thing.Maybe the screen resolution cannot go beyond 640 X 360.Hence,Android is the best version of what a modern Symbian should have looked like.My 701 still satisfies me however.Glad my s2 feeds my geek appetite.Nokia is the best when it comes to network signal. My 701 receives signal in places where my s2 doesn't receive anything.
All swearings in the world go to you Elop,BS motherf***er.
