Not to be a jerk or anything (like the other users on this forum) but the following statement is wrong: "it would be pretty easy for Apple to fix the bug that makes jailbreaking possible and thus a lot of future iPhone users will end up with an unlocked device in their hands" If the bug gets fixed, it will prevent future iPhone 3Gs buyers from jailbreaking and unlocking their phone.

they don't want to release it because they don't want apple to fix the bug that makes jailbreak possible and THEY in the sense that its the HACKERS not apple.
