Of all the tablets out there on the market, especially after checking quite a few and fully absorbing their offerings, nothing sticks out more that the venerable iPad 2 – even despite its still relatively new arrival on the scene...

P.A. ipad lovers.... pretty sure Apple is paying their wages.

Sure, but lets be honest the iPad is the best tablet. The amount of Apps alone are something to be impressed by. The iPad defiantly is a great device and it deserves to be on top in the tablet world.

yeah, like the lighter app. . .

it cant view adobe flash, therefore calling it the "best tablet" is way off...

hahaha i agree with u tragichero

its not the best tablet, it is the most popular tablet. they are not mutually exclusive. the Ford Pinto was once a popular car. Was it the best? (yea at blowing up when rear ended..lol)
if you concider most popular to automatically be the best, you sir, are a mindless sheep.
the best is subjective most of the time. since the ipad cant do flash, widgets, customize anything, real notifications, real multitasking, ect... its not even a concideration for me. If im going to spend 600 bux on something it better put butter on my damn toast for me, not just be an oversized version of an ipod which many people already have.

Of course I prefer the Xoom, but the general public doesn't.
First the iPad isn't 600 dollars its 499(500) the xoom is 599(600).
Second we all know that the Xoom is a great piece of technology it might have a better browser (http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-20053262-1.html) and to you and me a better OS of course thats based on opinion. But the iPad is sexy as hell and runs GREAT no way you can argue with that.
Third I'm guessing you are like me and don't have a tablet, but Apps is really what makes the iPad so successful, Android right now is new give it time, I bet we will see something very good from Android
Third look at reviews the iPad 2 is much higher reviewed than the Xoom, you can't say that every reviewer is an Apple fan boy thats just not a logical thing to say.
Last the lighter app is so much win

NO FLASH and living in a fish bowl AOL Hell Prison off the real web not able to really experience it first hand, like in Facebook or actually being able to control your own YouTube account is as about as asinine as it gets!!!
Someday all the iCrAppleholics are going to wake with the worse hangover.... everrrrrzzzzz!!! .....and realize that all the RDF'itized (Reality Distortion Field) FUD CrApple has been feeding them about FLASH was about picking their pockets and putting 30% of the App cost in their own!
Think about it..... what fool is going to brag about paying more for a phone or tablet PC that they can't fully utilize to browse the web or they have to hold a certain way to make a call? Never mind..... I know there are millions of you and you are the same people that bought Furby Robots and Nintendo Wiis just so you could brag about standing in line for hours to buy 'em! :P
Now part of the iPad 2 has plastic (not even molecularly engineered plastic like Samsung Tab 2) over the Wifi radio antenna. Yet you iFools brag about build quality for having a recycled RDF beer can cover on it's back and iP 3GS had a plastic back! ....if you're going to brag about build quality, tell CrApple to put Aircraft Grade Duralumin on it. Otherwise your tin can aluminum back will still need a case to protect it.
Carbon Fiber is a form engineered plastic, but is it better for protecting your device than the molecularly engineered plastic Samsung uses? NO! ....it's just another expensive selling point to brag about. The reality is that Carbon Fiber isn't flexible and has a Burst Point where it'll shatter and disintegrate like if it falls and hits a sharp object like alumino-silicate glass screen!
Finally back to FLASH; very soon Adobe will have new FLASH 11 (3D Molehill API's = only 0 to 5% CPU use) for completely GPU accelerated Games and Video online. But none of you will be able to go on Facebook (or play Millions of other FLASH games) and play "Idle Worship" the first online P2P game with replication sharing across the web. Nor will you be able able to play Max Racer w/ a Bluetooth Steering Wheel like on Android, WP7, WebOS, or Playbook!
3D games with Desktop quality are coming to FLASH 11 and you will all be sitting in your Fish Bowl Prison Garden Walls wondering why CrApple didn't get you in on the Revolution and is simply letting it all pass you by! ^_*

but you only talked about the iPad 2's looks, pure cosmetics.....that's not enough to make it the best....
4. PhoneLuver (Posts: 460; Member since: 05 Jul 2010)
Android or Windows are bound to bulldoze the iPad into submission. For the time-being the iPad2 is probably the best device available, considering all the services that it comes with, but it can't last forever. Especially, now that Google is making strides to provide similar services..
Only time will tell..
35. Rey (unregistered)
Yeah....Time will come Android and Windows will kill Apple hehehehe...

The Xoom is the best tablet available if you can get past the price. Hands down. The hot TABLET operating system on it is years ahead of the "Upsized IOS." Is the IPAD better looking of course. My macbook pro is better looking than any windows machine I have seen as well.
7. davecann2 (Posts: 460; Member since: 15 Mar 2011)
The Xoom is an epic fail!
No one is buying them....Why? Because the average user doesn’t care about hardware specs that are only slightly better then its competition! The Xoom can shot lasers and most consumers wouldn’t care. The OS is flawed with imperfections (more then the norm) and the marketing strategy sucks.
Consumers like confidence; they like products they know will succeed. They don’t want question marks next to their purchase. The Ipad is a winner. It is a proven technology. It is innovative and sexy at the same time. You can’t go wrong with it!
This time next year my ipad 2 will have some residual value while your Xoom will be an expensive cup costar.
13. YourAnEpicFail (unregistered)
So then why is the Nook Color selling so well and the Asus Transformer is already sold out of all it's original shipments around the world?
"Consumers like confidence; they like products they know will succeed."
I guess that's why almost all of Apple's products have low market share. Way to NOT make your point.
"This time next year my ipad 2 will have some residual value"
Yeah, like how the iPad had some residual value. . . right, even Verizon & AT&T had to nearly give them away to get rid of them. One thing last generation Apple products don't have is value.
15. davecann2 (Posts: 460; Member since: 15 Mar 2011)
The Nook Color sells well because of its price tag. And it does what its supposed to do.
Apple products have a high market value. Where do you get your facts from. Apple has sold 2.4+ million ipad 2 all the while Xoom has only sold 100k!
Why would anyone pay full price for the original ipad when they could get the ipad 2? This si why there is a price reduction.... SO THEY CAN SELL THE REST OF THE INVENTORY!
Your precious Xoom cant sell at all! NO ONE is buying them and that is a fact! I
You Sir are factless! I am not an Andriod hater I just like quaility over quantity,
29. taco50 (banned) (Posts: 5506; Member since: 08 Oct 2009)
Used Apple products have no value? Wow you're clueless. When the iPhone 4 came out I sold the 3gs for $260. More than I bought it for! Another tolling fail by a fandroid. The reason the xoom isn't selling is because it has a crappy OS with no apps.
36. Rey (unregistered)
hahahaha agree with u!
well customers now are just looking the name Apple..hehehehe
They are buying the name at a high rate whahahha
17. PhoneLuver (Posts: 460; Member since: 05 Jul 2010)
Another reason the Xoom is a failure is much simpler. 3G versions are virtually non existent! It's a typical Motorola problem! They don't cater for people outside the U.S..
24. remixfa (Posts: 13902; Member since: 19 Dec 2008)
the xoom is held back by its price. Moto themselves said they could justify the tag because its "LTE capable". Really? How did that work out? lol.
if the xoom launched at the same price as the ipad2 and had lots of advertizing like apple does, it would have been a much different ballgame.
its up to samsung now. IMO their tablet is better than the xoom anyways. Hopefully they are smart enough to advertize more.
25. davecann2 (Posts: 460; Member since: 15 Mar 2011)
I agree with you 100%! The zoom is not the flagship Andriod was hoping for. Samsung's next gen Galaxy tabs are going to be a much better device for Andriod.
iPad killer is will not be but firm competition...absolutely!
There will NEVER be a pure ipad or iphone killing device because Apple has already has several advantages... The most important is time! IOS has been out for a lot longer then any REAL Andriod device so its going to take time before it can catch up to the leader,

Actually, craigslisters are selling their ipads for almost as much as ipad2s.

"we’re constantly being bombarded with gadgets that seemingly push the human experience to new directions"
"Nothing has undoubtedly changed our mentality as a whole society more in the last year than the rise of tablets, and rightfully so, they engage human interaction in ways we haven’t thought about previously."
ahhh hahahahahah. Tablets are nothing more than watered down computers. Even if they were full blown computers they offer nothing that pushes my human epxerience.
What are the ways we havent thought of before???? Apps??
No offense but are these articles being written by 20 something year olds.
Tablets are just a new packaging of the same stuff we have had for several years now.

"No offense but are these articles being written by 20 something year olds."
Probably. . . or people that have never really done anything on a computer except browser the internet and maybe write an article. That's the thing. If you notice who's all in love with the iPad it's "tech writers." However, if you notice these "tech writers" don't know anything about tech. They are some of the most tech illiterate people you will find, yet they are telling everyone what to buy. What it comes down to is, a bunch of hack writers that write anything and everything for a buck. . . so they spew whatever they think will get them page hits.
27. Kjayhawk (Posts: 273; Member since: 07 Oct 2010)
I agree I have no idea why someone would ever buy a tablet, but they do so we must argue about it!!!

Xoom is the best tablet now and it will not become outdated in a year. Besides there is no need to by 3g version of the tablet since you can easily bluetooth tether it with any android device for free. I personally use rooted droid 1 and see no reason to upgrade in at least another year. I had the original I pad for a year and now it is used by kids only for games and flash cards. If you are a professional who needs a tablet for work get the xoom, if you just want the apps get the I pad. The lack of flash support is a big problem for ios since most reach web sites and apps still going to use it for years to come. Html 5 is just not there yet. Plus I think apple is destroing the web by allowing developers to build stupid apps for every web site to overcome the limits of the ios devices.
11. NookColor (unregistered)
Yeah well. . . the Nook Color is still outselling it in North America. . . so, whatever.
19. PhoneLuver (Posts: 460; Member since: 05 Jul 2010)
One could ask whether the Xoom is a finished product?
It just has a Work in progress feel to it.
Didn't come with flash!
Do the expansion slots work now?
Do the USB ports work? (without rooting the device.

21. davecann2 (Posts: 460; Member since: 15 Mar 2011)
This is a ligitamite artical IMO
Its a month later artical on the best selling tablet device to date! Would you rather have an artical on the Xoom 2 months later?

You like the iPad 2 then buy it
You don't like the iPad 2 then don't buy it but keep it in your mind iPad 2 the best tablet in the market.

Because its the internet, people go here to say shit they probably wouldn't say to another persons face...

Why does everyone claim the IPad is the top because of it's app count?
How many apps did the IPad launch with that were truly optimized for it?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S and an iPad2. Why I bought the iPad 2 and not the Xoom, Galaxy Tab or some other tablet?
-when I saw the iPad next to the competition it really put them in the shadow. The design is very classy, the other tablets looked like cheap next to the iPad.
-I've read that Xoom had disappointed the buyers(no Flash, no sdcard, at launch) so I did not wanted to take chances(after the disappointment with the Froyo update for my unlocked SGS).
-I like the smart cover, it's nice to watch videos without having to hold the tablet. Also I like that it provides protection to the screen when not in use.
-I knew that the iPad will not suffer from the Android devices problems (lag and battery life).
So, I have the iPad 2 for almost two weeks now, and I have to say I'm very impressed.
It really does what Apple claims, the battery life is galactic, no lag.
The only problem I see so far is the very high price of the apps, no refund, and some apps freeze in the "loading" state if you click the home button or close the smart cover. Anyway, nothing too annoying.

I just like to make a point about not having flash player for the iPad 2 if you do your research better instead of slagging the ipad off, people with iPad 2 can enjoy full flash by going on to app store and download ISWIFTER which is a awesome app and is only £1.79 it works great for me even better if you have wifi, hope that will shut a few people up...

Iphone 5 will be released soon...Hahaha how do u feel buying Iphone 4 and now Apple will be producing Iphone 5?
