The high-res iPad mini 2 faced with production delays, Apple mulling cheaper 8 GB version
0. phoneArena 02 Oct 2013, 02:42 posted on
LG, Samsung and Sharp have lined up to produce the high-res screen, says Reuters, but Apple is placing very stringent power consumption requirements on the panel, which has delayed the certification process, and Cupertino is just now getting around the production line, while the announcement date is fast approaching...

If the 8GB is priced nicely I might get one. I don't have ginormous music/movie collections, and I don't really use apps much (prefer playing on my Nexus 7) so 8GB would be ok (will be mostly for browsing).
I played with my officemate's ipad mini and it's just the right size for me.

I don't think Apple has any idea, how to price their devices right. But cant blame them because its still sells even it carries a higher price tag.

dont understand why its more storage in device is such a big deal.
a 8gb usb is $5 and 16gb for $15 and 32gb for $30.
these are rough figures but as you see the price isnt too high so why not go for long shot?
just dont understand these companies mind set. they will make 5 different models half of which will be recalled because they built too many and price of more storage is too high and no one buys that.
they rather lose money than provide one option of more storage to customers.

Just a theory, but if they made devices with more native on board storage it might discourage buyers from getting other devices. Think of the ipod/iphone conundrum. Apple didn't want to make a great deal of 32 or 64 GB iphone5's because having that much storage would allow a savvy person to save money and not have to purchase an ipod to hold all of their music. A single device could suffice but Apple would lose out on the profit from selling the same customer an ipod because their 16 GB iphone wouldn't cut the mustard.

I travel ... loading my iDevice with movies. Having a 16GB or preferably 32GB is nice.
8GB might be pushing it with an 8 mega pixel camera though - assuming that is what it ends up with. Those pictures alone and a few movies and the device is full

So you can get an iPad mini close to the same price as a Nexus 7 or Kindle HDX... But with half the storage. Come on Apple, just take down your profit margins and actually compete with the low cost tablets, you can DEFINITELY afford to lower your profit margins to match Google and Amazon's. I'll tell you right now that if the iPad mini comes with the A6X chip, a Retina display, and is priced at $250-280 for the 16 GB model, I'll pick it up immediately. I've been wanting an 8" tablet, and I want my own iOS 7 device, it'll be perfect!

Add another $100 to your offer and you could be in the ballpark. Apple is not about competing on price.

Yeah, I'm being too optimistic. I would at least hope for them to keep the same price, like they do with the full sized iPads. They'll definitely give the iPad mini 2 the A7 chip and Retina display; after making such a big deal of the 64 bit processor they wouldn't put anything less than that in their new products, and a high resolution display is a must for smaller tablets in 2013.

Will not even consider an iPad with out an A7 something.
Apple clearing is pushing for 64 bit OS.
32 bit is old news now.

"iPad pricing can start off closer to Google's and Amazon's subsidized tablets." is this a joke? Like the cheaper Iphone5c

Add a USB or micro SD slot in the mini and you'll see a ton of them.
