This ad does encapsulate the anxiety running through millions of people who have been patiently waiting.
Although I do not wish to be in line 2-10-11, I appreciate that VZW is thanking the millions of loyal customers that may now bow down to their Jesus phone and frolic mercilessly in teh garden.

This ad isn't about the iPhone, it's about enhancing their brand even more than they did with their "most reliable network" claim. They are thanking the customers that stayed with them despite not having an iPhone. It's a more personal statement being made and it's genius. Verizon is so big and they could just keep talking up the network, but this commercial is just genius. And I think the other providers could learn a lot from whatever Marketing Team Verizon is using. Customers already feel like they are so insignificant to their utility companies...just a number. But Verizon somehow makes people feel as if they are part of something greater and that Verizon only exists because people continue to be part of whatever that greater something is. The rest of the companies are simply putting out ads to say what they have available.
Verizon isn't my cell phone company and I'm not sure they ever will...but my God, I have yet to see them strike out. The other carriers should be very afraid if more people want to be part of this.

Verizon, as far back as i can remember paying attention to it, has nearly always been a home run ad wise (palm pre not so much).
to this day i cant get that freaking "WATCH ME MOVE WITH MY JUKE" song/phone commerical out of my head. god that phone was pretty bad too,,,,watch me move with my juke.......

But I mean, was it the Palm Pre ads or the Palm Pre itself? I mean this was when Verizon was boning Android. They had to create a reason for people to buy that phone and I'm sorry, the Palm Pre and Pixi aren't the most masculine or techie phones in the world...

Well said...although this does beg the question as to why you're NOT on Verizon...
I agree though, our marketing team has been killer the last couple of years. In particular the ads for the original Motorola Droid were brilliant (ironic considering they were a direct attack on the iPhone).
I'm not too sold on the whole presentation for the "Rule the Air' campaign though. A lot of my co workers had the same reaction when they unveiled it to us- the tower looks like something from an ad you'd see in the freakin 50's. Still though, the concept is excellent- the idea of empowering customers has been a significant step forward from the days of the "Can you hear me now?" guy.
I heard that guy was a prima donna, btw. Really got full of himself when those ads were being pushed out. I guess I would too though if I got rich off saying 5 words over and over.
